About
So far I have produced a rough version of a fifty minute documentary that tells the story of the British document, the Balfour Declaration, that resulted in the Arab land of Palestine being turned into a Jewish state. It is based on photographs of Palestine between 1900 and 1940, documents from the British archives, some never before publicised, a commentary and pieces to camera by me, and music either specially composed or taken from traditional Palestinian melodies and songs. Although this is suitable for meetings, it can be improved with more technical facilities, rerecording of existing quotes and adding new ones, and perhaps some exterior filming, as well as remixing the sound track. Technically it could then become more suitable for broadcast. Funds are also needed for publicity and promotion, drawing the attention of a wider public and paying for travel to screenings and Q&As in the UK and the US.
Risks and challenges
So far this has been solitary enterprise. It is now ready for a more collaborative approach, particularly in publicising the documentary as widely as possible. The aim of this is to put the documentary in front of as many people as possible, rather than to make money. I will allow free screenings to take place although I would like my expenses to be covered by host organisations. If a technically improved version can find a place on TV that would be even better.
