An art zine showcasing the creations of famed horror Author, H.P. Lovecraft, as envisioned by over 50 amazing illustrators and artists!
Fans of the horrific and the unknown, pay heed! My name is Trevor Henderson, and my Kickstarter co-organizer is Kathryn Bright! I'm assembling an art zine titled "Puffed Shoggoths - A H.P. Lovecraft Art Zine" that will be dedicated to the monstrous and mysterious world of H.P. Lovecraft, one of the worlds most influential horror authors!
"Puffed Shoggoths" will be perfect-bound, and will feature 72 pages of grey-scale artwork from over 50 amazing illustrators, artists and comic makers, all paying tribute to the bleak and terrifying world of H.P. Lovecraft. The cover will be in full-colour, on a thick card-stock of the highest quality. Lovecrafts' written works were filled with monstrous gods, horrifying cults, and an enveloping sense of inescapable doom. Just some of the good stuff you can expect to find in this book!
"Puffed Shoggoths" will debut at the "Toronto Comics and Arts Festival" this May, and will include tons of wonderfully talented artists such as:
As well as many, many others! But it can't happen without YOUR HELP!
I need funding to get the book printed and available at TCAF this May! For $15, you will pre-order a copy of "Puffed Shoggoths", as well as purchase a digital copy. In additional tiers, I have a ton of rewards prepared, such as sticker sets, prints, embroidered pins, silk-screen prints, and even original art and paintings!
And finally, we'll be offering a couple different monster themed sticker sets, including..
Here are the prints we have available for backers! Rachel's piece will be 11 X 17 inches, the octoskull print will be 9.75 X 15 inches, and the Puffed Shoggoths cover print will be 11 X 16 inches!
The awesome Jenn Woodall will be making one of a kind, hand made embroidered buttons portraying different Lovecraftian monsters! Here's an example of the kind of work you can get.
We have two original pieces of art to offer, one of which is a drawing that will be featured in "Puffed Shoggoths"!
And finally, star illustrator Sam Heimer has also contributed a prize to our highest tier, a custom, 20+ hour ink rendition of the donator having relations with an Innsmouth deep one, with the sinister Captain Obed Marsh cheering you on and spraying your tangled forms with Champagne. Here's a link to the Sam Heimer's site, so you can check out the quality of work you will get.
If this sounds like something you want to see happen, please contribute, and spread the word! The stars are almost right, now it's up to you to help!
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
The biggest challenge is meeting my expected goal. Without reaching that $6000 goal, the book will not be made, and all of the amazing incentives (stickers, prints, screen prints, original art, embroidered pins) will never be made and distributed. If we reach the goal, all of the incentives will be made and shipped, and we will have enough copies of the zine to distribute at a variety of upcoming conventions, starting with the Toronto Comics and Arts Festival.
All of the incentives to backers will start being shipped towards the end of May 2013 with an expected delivery in June 2013.
A lot of cool people, that's who! Here's a list!
K. Lee Kain
Jasper Van Looveren Baines
Zach Hazard Vaupen
So cool! All the artists have contributed AMAZING work, that you will only see if we get funded! Spread the word!
Thanks for asking!
It's $3600 for me to print 500 copies of the book, 200 of which are for backers.
Approximately $900 is going to be used to produce all the incentive rewards (stickers, art prints, pins, etc.)
About $1500 has been estimated as shipping costs for all 200 backers! (shipping from Canada can be INSANE.)
All of the illustrators have contributed their work for free, everyone contributed out of interest in the subject matter and wanting to be part of the book.
If i exceed my goal of $6000, all funds will go towards an honorarium of money to pay pack the contributors on a page by page basis!
I hope that clarifies things a bit!
