After a lof of preparation, we are ready to launch our kickstarter project - and are very excited to finally present this to you, our fans!
Performing, touring, writing and bringing our music to you has been an amazing journey for us as a band. We've done so much, and now we want to do even more.
And that's where you can be a special part of this exciting experience.
We're getting ready to record our new album, "Aria" - which represents the idea of expressive melody, in one united voice - and we feel this most fittingly captures our natural energy and dynamic as both artists and a collective unit.
For this project, we feel that we can make things even more memorable by continuing to engage you - the fans - to be a unique part of the album making process. This is especially important because your involvement gives us the freedom to really make the kind of music that truly embodies our artistic spirit.
So we're asking for your support.
We are going to use the pledges from kickstarter to record, mix and distribute a new album independently, print new merchandise, and go on a headline tour in early 2014 to release the new record. We will be touring all over the UK and Europe doing over 30 shows.
It's an inspiring opportunity to be able to do this with people who care about our music - we firmly believe that there's a great synergy when people join forces in pursuit of accomplishing a common goal. This is that time!
So let's do it - together! Our goal is to make 2014 a big year for the band and our amazing fans.
Thanks so very much,
Risks and challenges
As many of you know, we have self-released all of our albums up to this point.
We are super excited about the campaign and ready to send everything out to everyone!
Please know we will deliver all packages in a timely manner. Merchandise and CDs will all be printed on time and provided to backers accordingly.
With that said - here are some numbers to give you an idea of how much this all costs... we are obviously going to do our best to stay on the lower part of the range for all these expenses...
Tracking: $1,500 - $3,000 per song
The first step in recording an album is getting into a studio (which we just did) and tracking songs. Paying a producer, other musicians, and paying for studio time are very common expenses, and the more money that is available, the better producers, engineers, musicians, and guest artists with which we can possibly work.
Mixing: $500 - $1,500 per song
Mixing is an essential part of the process - where the recorded tracks of each instrument and vocal part of a song are tweaked and developed in sonic terms so they meld together. This is done to create uniformity and consistency in sound. Of course different mixing engineers have different prices depending on their reputation and the skills they bring to the table.
Mastering: $100 - $500 per song
The final stage of audio production is called mastering. You can think of mastering as the final touches put on the audio of an album as a whole. In this phase, the focus is making sure songs flow from one to the next and that the overall loudness of an album is more or less the same from beginning to end. As with the other categories, prices can vary depending on which mastering engineer we secure.
Graphic Design: $1,000 - $3,000
Once the album has been tracked, mixed, and mastered, it’s time to work on visuals. A photographer, stylists, and a graphic artist are all important to make sure the album's appearance and design matches its sound!
CD & Merch Printing: $1,500 - $2,500
This is the rough cost for producing actual CDs and t-shirts and related gear.
Publicity: $3,000 - $15,000
The months leading up to and following the release of a new album are crucial to the album’s success. Initial awareness of the album has to be created within a short time frame through publicity campaigns and radio promotions. This type of marketing can be very costly, but the more time and money spent on working with established publicists and promoters, the better chance the album has to reach a wide audience.
Flights to Europe for tour: $6,000 - $7,000
Transportation and lodging during tour: $15,000 - $20,000+
