At Teamwork we give new life to old materials. Our satchels are crafted from 90% reclaimed materials including sailboat sails, tractor tire inner tubes, banners, and other tough stuff. Our current line includes a tote, small messenger, and a larger messenger. Each bag is unique and designed with special attention to details that show evidence of the material in its former use.
Recently we stumbled upon some pallets of old military canvas and immediately went to the drawing board. What we ended up with is a line of bags that includes a classic messenger with a padded laptop sleeve, a zippered duffel, an adventure backpack, a dopp kit, as well as some concepts for a few other smaller travel accessories. Inspired by the old rucksacks of yore that our dads and grandpas carried, these bags incorporate the utilitarian style of military gear but with a design sense that caters to the modern traveler.
Each of our bags has a story to tell.
A few months ago when we came across the pallets of military canvas along with straps, zippers, and other various hardware, we felt like we had hit a dusty old gold mine. The long forgotten pallets were in a warehouse growing old, getting eaten by mice, and wasting away since the mid 1980's. The material was at one time used to make portable antenna bags for the U.S Military, a now obsolete technology. The account was canceled, and the fabric was left sitting in the warehouse waiting to be thrown in the trash. Until Teamwork came along.
Always on the hunt for discarded materials, we have a lot of fun discovering the potential for the materials we find to be transformed into new forms that help us function better in our day-to-day lives. Whats not so fun is figuring out how to increase our production so we can continue to get our products out in the world and keep on doing what we love.
This is where you and kickstarter come in. We want to create a stronger manufacturing infrastructure that will enable us to continue to deliver thoughtfully designed bags and products. With your help we could acquire machinery, create some jobs, and launch our new line of canvas bags properly. Heck we might even be able to keep up with demand if this works out.
