Day 7

Posted by Mike Garley (Creator)

Hello you. We’re now sitting pretty on 72% - that is massive! I’m hoping that soon we’ll reach the magical 100% with plenty of time left over to see how many amazing stretch goals we can reach.

Our first stretch goal is at £7000 and with this we’ll add an additional six-page story by acclaimed author Adam Christopher (Empire State, The Age Atomic, The Burning Dark) to the Dead Roots anthology, meaning EVERYONE who’s pledged will get even more value for their money!

Adam is a novelist whose debut novel, Empire State, was SciFiNow’s Book of the Year and a Financial Times Book of the Year for 2012. In 2013, he was nominated for the Sir Julius Vogel award for Best New Talent, with Empire State shortlisted for Best Novel. Born in New Zealand, he has lived in Great Britain since 2006.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Adam on his debut comic: The Sentinel for VS Comics where I have seen first-hand just how brilliantly his unique style of writing translates into a comic, so I’m really excited to see what he’ll do with a story set within our shared world anthology!

If we reach this stretch goal we’ll use the additional money to increase our print run allowing us to produce more books, and to give you fantastic bonus content like Adam’s planned six-page story, so please help us by sharing the Dead Roots Kickstarter far and wide.

If you’re not already aware of Adam’s work, then your really should be (as you can probably tell by the quotes in the pictures in this update)! Check out his website here for more information:

Feel free to show our facebook page some love too while you’re at it! Once again, thank you guys so much for supporting Dead Roots!

Today’s cover artwork (at the top of this update) was from Typo, and was inspired by writer Andrew Ellard’s mention in yesterday’s Sci-Fi London article. Typo was illustrated by Will Tempest, coloured by Nathan Ashworth, and lettered by Mike Stock.

Adam Christopher has written some great stuff so far! I can't wait to see his take on the zombie genre! Actually, let him know I'd love to see Seven Wonders as a comic book too. (But I'd settle for a novelized sequel too) :-)
      Good luck guys!
