Thanks to the success of the Kickstarter we're able to look forward towards stretch goals!
The Samurai Slasher is a homage to 80s horror about a Samurai who returns from the dead. He’s slashed his way through Japan, the US army, a support group for survivors of similar slashers, and now he’s back to finish off the tired and predictable trilogy format…
He also going to fight hordes of the undead in hell, a legion of resurrected samurai warriors, and his koi-carp inspired nemesis….
As well as offering all three collections through the Kickstarter, you can also pick up the critically acclaimed Samurai Slasher Late Fees.
But hurry, launching on Friday the 13th this Kickstarter will only run for 13 days.
Created by Mike Garley (Dead Roots, The Kill Screen, Adventure Time), The Samurai Slasher is a ninety plus page comic that features seven stories full of action, humour, and our Eponymous samurai slashing at a multitude of stuff.
The incredible artists involved in this volume are Gavin Mitchell, Michael Lee-Graham, Katie Fleming, Andy W. Clift, Jim Lavery, Andy Bloor, Rory Donald, Alisdair Wood, Dan Butcher, Dave Jones, and Jennie Gyllblad. With Nathan Ashworth on colours and Mike Stock on letters.
Part three of the collection ties together all the various story threads from the previous two collections, as the Samurai Slasher is pitted against the evil Sharaai!
There are multiple pledge levels aimed to appeal to new and existing readers of the Samurai Slasher. There’s also the option to get two of the comics - so if you missed the first or the second Kickstarter (feel free to give them a glance Samurai Slasher 1 - Samurai Slasher 2) then you can easily catch up. Also offered within the Kickstarter is the recently published ‘Late Fees’ comic - further details at the bottom of the page.
As well as digital copies of Samurai Slasher (parts one to three) and physical copies of the book you can get a digital original soundtrack by the incredible Ian Alex-Mac (like the music used in the Kickstarter video), a copy of Late Fees (details further down the page), a signed and numbered bookplate, mini posters, badges, a t-shirt, and original artwork!
Badge pack! Four 25mm badges - these are not the final designs. Designs will be from all three Samurai Slasher comics.
Mini Posters - all designed by Michael Lee-Graham.
T-Shirts - this is a mock up off the final design, which is taken straight from the pages of Samurai Slasher part three. It's illustrated by the incredible Gavin Mitchell. It will be available in all sizes and for men and women - you can select your size once the campaign is completed.
There's three pieces of original artwork up for grabs. Dave Jones and Alisdair Wood's pieces appear finished within the comic - The Jennie Gyllblad original is finished, it just needs framing.
Hopefully there will be enough amazing stuff available to make even the most discerning person's head turn...
Along with Samurai Slasher part three, we’re going to be offering Late Fees with the Kickstarter too - printed just last month Late Fees is a 36-page limited edition comic (666 signed copies) with a spot gloss cover, which is written by me (Mike Garley), illustrated by the incredible Lukasz Kowalczuk, and with colour and lettering by Lukasz Mazur.
Samurai Slasher is an 80s horror inspired Slasher comic, which doesn’t take itself too seriously. However, this isn’t anything like that at all…
Late Fees is a slice of life exploration of escapism. It’s a story about life, death, and 80s horror.
To add it to any physical pledge level all you have to do it add £5 to your pledge. So if you’re backing for all three issues at £30 you will need to write £35 in as your pledge.
All orders will be double-checked and confirmed when surveys go out after the funding period is over (as long as we’re successful).
Thanks for taking a look at the Samurai Slasher Kickstarter - with your help the comic will be printed and with you in time for Christmas!
Risks and challenges
This will be my SEVENTH Kickstarter, which means I'm experienced in fulfilling projects in a timely fashion. This project is scheduled to be completed by December, and with most artwork already completed there's plenty of wiggle room which means I'm expecting another stress-free campaign.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
