Testing the menu!
Firstly, Dylan and I are so grateful to the people who have supported us so far! We have been amazed and it is so awesome to see the community getting more and more involved. That's really what it is all about for us, so thank you!
We have spent the past couple of days testing out a couple of ideas for the menu. The idea is to bring the concept of sharing plates to our breakfast menu too as a more communal style of eating is something we really enjoy.
As you can probably imagine, we are on a bit of a budget at the moment but we wanted to see if some of the ideas I have been playing around with would work in practice. We decided to keep it relatively cheap and simple in terms of ingredients and make it more exciting with herbs and spices, which tends to be my style of cooking anyway.
We invited a couple of friends around to act as chief tasters and got stared on:
- Baked ricotta with figs and honey
- Fish cakes with harissa and rosewater
- Lakes with smoked salmon, boiled eggs and herb spread
- Rocket and salami scrolls
- Hannah's signature chocolate cake
All went down a treat apart from a couple of minor mishaps on Hannah's part (over-boiled eggs, over-salted harissa). The main problem was I wanted to eat everything before Dylan had taken any pictures! I think he did a fantastic job in the end though!
So, that's me for now! I would love to hear what YOU like to eat when you go out for brunch, so get in touch!
