About this project
SmartWood is an exciting new take on the Smartphone controlled car. Smartwood models components are made of quality Birchwood and assembly is a truly fun, interactive experience.
The assembly, however, is just one part of action, it’s also the controller or the brain which brings these beautiful wooden model cars to life. Each model is unique in its assembly and design.
No technical skills are necessary to assemble and use a Smartwood model, even if you've never built a robot before. It's affordable,fun and the perfect hobby to do with your kids or even on your own .

Smartwood cars are the 1st authentic 100% wood car models completely controlled with your smartphone. From any product or industrial engineer’s point of view, it’s awesome because it’s a balance of an intricate yet simple interior and sophisticated exterior design.
One of our main guidelines was to make it as easy to assemble as possible. Dad tested and kid approved.
We now need funds to move to full-scale production. Products are ready but additional funds will allow us to produce in mass bulk (wood designs, tires, controllers, motors).
The Smartwood control board is an arduino compatible miniature control board with a number of add-ons making it ideal for embedded projects for beginners ,educators, developers and more.

Elad’s after-school program has evolved over time to one that takes children back to the basics - doing "stuff", creating and building stuff, real engineering instead of just opening packages.
Elad and Gili's joint side-projects led to the production of the gorgeous designs of Smartwood. They realized early on the Smartwood designs were a luxury appealing to kids but that also allows adults to would appreciate going back to what is old but new.
Risks and challenges
We already signed agreements with key suppliers and manufacturers. Designs for manufacturing and the android and iOS apps are complete. We are ready to begin manufacturing the first batch of Smatwood cars. However, delays in production may happen, depending on the factory’s production pipeline and component availability.
Though there could be many types of challenges, schedules changes, requirement changes, bugs or hiccups we have set an intentionally plausible schedule for Smartwood with full intentions that we will be able to adhere to schedule and even over deliver.

The back axel, the tie rod end and the cogs are made of hardend plastic to ensure maximum durability.
The kit is delivered with all necessary tools but glue, you can use regular superglue or
plain wood glue.
Battery use lasts for about an hour. easily replaced and supports rechargable
batteries (not included).
