About

La Ira de Dios Kitchen project

Sharing meals are the natural meeting point for the artists and researchers participating in the residency programs. Our warehouse building doesn’t have this space and we need to build it from zero.

We want to create not just a functional room but a kitchen that will be integrated into our exhibition/residency area. Building it in the core of our space will be a statement about sharing and cooking. We will invite artists, researchers, and the community not only to share but to reflect and experiment with food.

We invite the architects Marina Zuccon and Franco Antolini to design our new kitchen. The concept they propose is to create a space where different cultures meet adapting to different ways of cooking. Also to integrate the patio with the exhibition and working space. The patio will have a fire section and an organic vertical orchard. In the interior there will be a modular system of tables and stations, and the kitchen tools will be hanging on the wall like in a wood workshop.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT TO MAKE THIS KITCHEN COME TRUE!

La Ira de Dios is a nonprofit organization in Buenos Aires, Argentina. We facilitate artistic exchange and develop contemporary art practice through international residencies, partnerships, and public programming. We currently offer studios to artists, hold a program of exhibitions, and develop residency programs that allow groups of national and international artists to research and work together. During the last three years, we’ve received more than 80 artists and researchers willing to have a collaborative experience and get engaged with the local art scene.

La Ira de Dios was founded in 2010 as a gallery for emerging artists. In 2014 we moved to an industrial warehouse in search of more experimental projects. Our two-floor building is located in Villa Crespo neighborhood, one of the most vibrant spots in Buenos Aires art scene. We have 500 square meters of available space comprising of 7 studios and an exhibition space of 140 square meters, which turns into an open working area during a residency program.

This project has been selected for inclusion on Art Basel’s curated page on Kickstarter.

Risks and challenges

Thank you for your support! We are excited to make this project come true!
Sustain an independent art organization in Argentina is a difficult task. Economical instability and lack of specific support for art residencies are a big obstacle. We've accomplished to maintain our space growing since 2010. Crowdfunding campaigns are a big help to develop new projects and give more opportunities to independent initiatives.
We plan to build the kitchen area in stages. The campaign funding will allow us to start and have a first functional module.
