Listen to the home demo of "The Ballad of Johnny Roller and the Bones" above!
We're Dr. Dour & Peach, and we sing songs about monsters. We are ready to record an EP with 6 songs from our repertoire. The selection covers a stylistic range from silly to poignant, from the soulful croon of a mummy in love, to a waltz with downbeats the size of Godzilla's footsteps. All this with Dr. Dour on the 10-string touch-guitar and vocals, accompanied by Peach on the cello and banjo.
We need to raise $4,000 in order to fully realize the project. We are investing our own resources too, so if we don't reach the goal, we will still record the songs, but they'll be done more simply and for a digital release only. Together with your help, we can make the EP awesome, with full percussion, get it out to a wider audience on a physical CD and create beautiful album artwork. You'll cover the percussionist, studio, mixing, mastering, album illustrator, and CD production/distribution.
Every dollar counts. Whether you contribute $5, $15, or $500, you become a part of The Monster Songs. Best of all, you can help just by sharing the link with other monster-lovers.
If we surpass our goal, we will add strings and piano to the tracks that are really screaming for it (Johnny Roller and the Bones, being a western ballad, definitely wants a fiddle!). We have big ideas for where to go next too, if we really blow through the goal. There are at least 10 more monsters songs vying to get onto this recording if they can!

Risks and challenges
We've already got our studio, artist, and musicians lined up, but if one of those deals falls through, we've got second options waiting; it'll just push our timetable back some. We'll send you photo and video updates from the studio as we record. If things go wrong, we'll let you know. If things go well, you'll know that too!
We did our best to calculate the project expenses. We also did research and made spreadsheets to estimate the time commitment and dollars needed to fulfill all those fun rewards. We feel prepared! But this is our first Kickstarter campaign and we know that there may be surprises. Stay tuned for updates and if you have questions, please send us a note!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
