About this project
My journey as a songwriter began in 2005. In 2008, I released my first CD of original tunes called "Between the Whiskey and the Wine". I recorded this CD at Tommy Detamore's studio in Floresville, TX. Tommy was the co-producer on that CD as well as my last release, "Wrong Is What I Do Best", released in 2010.
I'm ready to record another album of original tunes and I'm teaming up with Tommy Detamore once again. I would like to give you a preview of the stuff that I've been writing lately.
This song is called "After the Storm" and is a song I wrote after Hurricane Ike hit my home of Houston, TX. I thought about the devastation of that storm and how helpless we were going through it. We had to wait until the storm was over before we could do anything to try to put back together the pieces of our homes and neighborhoods. I thought about how sometimes relationships are like that - that you just have to sit through the storm until it's over and then try to put the pieces back together.
I also wrote a song called "It's Rainin Inside" (no the album will not be a storm theme - haha). It's a favorite of mine. I can't wait to record this as a full band. . . (many thanks to Richard Booth who did the video)
If you're listening, you know that these songs are expanded from what I've written before. They are uniquely me and I hope that is why you will enjoy the album.
UNKNOWN ARTIST - THE eBOOK
In addition to the CD, I will be completing a book in electronic form. This book will primarily be a compilation of my online blogs from my website, www.missleslie.com, song lyrics, other writing and my poetry. Check out my blogs to see what you'll be able to get all in one digital place! The ebook will be called "Unknown Artist". I chose this title because when you are listening to songs as you have recorded them, the name of the song and the artist do not show up on the computer. The artist always shows "Unknown Artist" until you finish the song and "stamp" your name and title on the songfile itself. It seems appropriate to me, as I am primarily a local and regional act. And for some reason, I identify with the anonymity.
THE KICKOFF PARTY
Note that almost all of the rewards include an invitation to our CD Kickoff party at the Track Shack in Spring, TX on September 8, 2012. You'll get a chance to hear a great live show by Miss Leslie and many others as well as get to participate in activities that will be incorporated into the CD (such as a poster signing that will be included in the artwork - YOU can have your name on Miss Leslie's CD!). This will be a party NOT to forget!
Thanks for any and all contributions to this project. I cannot do this without YOU! I am really excited about the music and SO hopeful that this will fund and happen! Thanks for keeping a songwriter's dream alive!
YES! See the response from Amazon Payments Below:
I'm sorry for any concern your Kickstarter project has caused you. International customers can use their credit cards in order to process payments for Kickstarter. They just have a different way that they have to add the card to the Amazon Payments account before they can make the pledge.
You can add a new credit card on http://Amazon.com in the "Your Account" section (http://www.amazon.com/your-account). Select the "Add a Credit Card" option in the Payment section and follow the onscreen instructions. Once the credit card has been added to your http://Amazon.com account, the information will automatically transfer to your Amazon Payments account.
If needed, you can find more information about managing your payment methods here:
I have found the following two FAQ's on the Kickstarter page that I thought my be helpful to you.
***I'm international and keep getting asked for a US address when pledging. What do I do?***
If you are a non-US Amazon Mechanical Turk user you may experience a problem trying to pledge. We've alerted Amazon about this bug. Sorry this is annoying. To circumvent this, you should create a new Amazon Payments account. On the Amazon Payments sign-in page, click "I am a new customer." You will need to use an alternative email address that does not already have an account associated with it.
***Can people from outside the US pledge to projects?***
Yes! Anyone, anywhere (with a major credit card) can pledge to Kickstarter projects.
I hope this helps, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
