Greetings, and thanks for visiting my Kickstarter page! I'm Kenny Keil, artist/writer of Tales to Suffice, an anthology-style humor book that lovingly skewers comics and the people who love them. I've completed over 100 pages of material and am now looking to self-publish a full color collection. I'm hoping to use Kickstarter as a way to raise funds for printing, through selling (among other nifty things) pre-orders of said collection - tentatively titled GIANT-SIZED TALES TO SUFFICE! I'm also hoping to rock your face off with tons of other rewards, including mini-comics and one-of-a-kind, fully customized art prints. If that sounds like your kind of party, then read on!
UPDATE: I realize that you might be unfamiliar with Kickstarter, so here's a brief explanation of how the campaign works: If you look to the top right of the page, you will see that I have "____ days to go" - When the clock reaches 0, the campaign will end. If I have met my goal at that time, then your credit card is billed, and your rewards will go out as quickly as possible (If you're pre-ordering GIANT SIZED TALES TO SUFFICE, it still needs to be printed, so that will take a little while). If I have not met my goal, then you are not billed, and no money goes through. And that's it, basically. If you have any questions, please let me know.
ALSO: International backers, please add $1 for shipping if you are pledging at the $5 level, and $12 for pledges of $10 or more. THANKS!
And now, bit of history: I began working on Tales to Suffice a few years ago in my spare time (comics aren't my dayjob), and in 2008 the first issue made its debut with SLG Publishing. Here is what some people on the internet had to say about it: "If you're looking for a funny comic book, you can't go wrong with this." - Andrea Speed, Comixtreme
"Find this and laugh!" - Greg Burgas, Comics Should Be Good
"It’s a rare thing when a comic book can get me to laugh out loud, but Tales to Suffice certainly did." - Hilden, Robot Panic
"This is a very clever comic, full of entertaining little funny bits that make it a real pleasure to read." - Jason Sacks, Comics Bulletin
"Comics aren’t always as fun as this one." - Lee Newman, Broken Frontier
Then, a few things fell through on the distribution side of things, and sadly the book was put on indefinite hiatus while all that got worked out. But even when the future of Tales to Suffice looked questionable at best, I never stopped working on it. Before too long, I'd completed 3 issues worth of material, clocking in at just over 100 pages. Then I took a nap.
When I woke up, I realized that I had no idea how I was going to get my work back out into the world again. And that, my friends, is where you come in. Theoretically.
What I'd like to do through Kickstarter is essentially use it as a pre-order system to help fund the publication of GIANT-SIZED TALES TO SUFFICE, a 120-page, full color collection of the entire 3-issue series (plus some extras). The content itself is 99% finished (At the moment I'm still working on a cover design), but what I need help with is covering the printing costs. I figure what better way to raise those funds than to just go ahead and pre-sell the book?
And since this is Kickstarter after all, I also figure why not make this a really fun and cool experience for everyone involved? So in addition to pre-ordering the book, you can also participate at several different levels, with the rewards ranging from PDF previews, to postcards, to mini-comics and even one-of a kind custom art prints. Please take a moment to check out all the different Reward Levels over there to the right. There's some pretty neat stuff there if I do say so myself.
And that's my spiel! Rest assured that 100% of the funds raised will go exclusively towards printing GIANT-SIZED TALES TO SUFFICE, and that rewards will go out to backers as quickly as possible. And be sure to check this page frequently because I plan to put lots of preview art and other goodies on my Kickstarter blog.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely, Kenny Keil
