Kingston Green Radio was started by Sam Hermitage who had a vision to give a voice to the local people and to the urgent need for environmental awareness and sensitivity. Him and his team have been working relentlessly for years, often seven days a week, to keep the station alive.
In 2015 the station boasts of over 15 weekly presenters, all with an amazing array of shows, music tastes, knowledge and experience. Listening to KGR is the second best thing to taking a trip around the world. You can hear the softly spiced tunes of Nepal on the Everest Show, a passionate exploration of world affairs on Recycled Stories, tunes from the best local artists on the Local Artist Showcase, the bountiful rhythms of Africa on Afro Vibes and more. There is something for everyone, from every decade, from every country and background.
You can tune in right now here: http://www.gffradio.org.uk/
What's more, KGR is home to so many people, and they are always inviting anyone to join the team, share their voice, love the local community.
Kingston Green Radio is a testimony to the dedication a few passionate people can have to the betterment of society, despite the cost to their time and pockets. But with the recent change in government, there is a bit of uncertainty around the funding available so we are forced to find out funding elsewhere.
We need £1000 minimum to run our yearly one week FM broadcast during climate week, a crucial time when we want to give all we can to promote awareness and engagement in climate change for the better. We've been doing this for years but this year we need your help.
Please watch the video and share it will everyone you know who is passionate about the environment. We are so grateful for your help. The trees are grateful too!! Our children of the future will be grateful also.
With loads of love,
Sam & the Kingston Green Radio team
