Surrounding the great trading city of Midlam, there lie many scattered villages, each nestled precariously between small patches of fertile farmland, ancient swamps and smouldering wastelands. As long as the villagers pay their taxes, in money, crops and livestock, they are largely left to their own devices. Such villages are known for their odd rural ways, curious customs and ancient religious ceremonies. Their only visitors being the occasional merchant trader, tinker, unwary traveller and, on important festival days, a priest.
However, reports however have come from one small village, of strange and unusual omens, blighted crops, sick cattle, rains of blood and frogs and the possession of the innocent. Having reached Midlam, these tales have excited the chattering townsfolk, alarmed the priests, alerted the City Council, perturbed the School of Wizards and, of course, attracted the attention of the Baron of Midlam, who takes an interest in all such matters. And so, the Baron rides forth, keen to satisfy his curiosity and also aware that the scourge that is the professional witch-hunter will also be abroad...
Welcome to the Village of the Witches! A collection of seemingly innocent villagers and their witch alter-egos.
The Day of the Witch Hunter Stretch Goal - Unlocked!
The Day of the Witch Hunter Stretch Goal has been unlocked, thank you to you all! Thanks to your support we have revealed the true nature of Vincent Hobson Witch Hunter to be the Warlock, Master Darkweezel!
The Day of the Witch Hunter Stretch Goal
As the Baron went to investigate the cries, he found a scattered crowd of villagers by the river, lamenting the fate of 'Old Agetha' who was tied to a crude wooden structure which sporadically dunked her into the river. He saw that the poor woman had passed out.
"Stop this!" Cried the Baron "What is the meaning of this barbarism!"
A small group of mean-looking rabble of men parted to let a well-dressed sharp featured man step forward. His eyes flickered over to Baron with disdain.
"I am Vincent Hobson, witch hunter. And you would do well not to interfere with my investigations.... Baron. For none may interfere with my good work, save for those who would be revealed as servants of the evil one..."
The Village of the Witches Kickstarter is going strong, thanks to you all and we are pleased to announce our new stretch goal!
Should we reach £9000, then we will include one of each miniature free with every Village of the Witches pledge (and two of each miniature for those who back 'The Village of the Witches x2').
Anyone backing 'The Villagers' pledge will receive one free 'Vincent Hobson, Witch Hunter' miniature, while those who back 'The Witches' pledge will receive one free 'Master Darkweezel' miniature.
Backers who pledge for a single or double miniature will be able to choose one of these miniatures as one of their options.
A Note on Metal
The miniatures are cast in a high quality pewter, with a high Tin content, but may contain a small quantity of lead. We unfortunately cannot guarantee lead free models. Most 'lead free' metal usually contains a small amount of lead to help the metal flow into the mould. Below is an actual picture of the shiny metal we use.
Risks and challenges
Risks are low, though there is always a small chance that, for one reason or another, a figure does not cast properly.
In these unlikely circumstances we would either get a replacement mould or commission a sculpt by the original sculptor, matching the original as closely as possible, with whatever modifications are necessary for the miniatures to cast correctly.
Should this happen, the estimated release date for all miniatures could be pushed back by a month or two until any problem was fixed.
Although, across all ten of our Kickstarters, and over a hundred miniatures made, we have only had one serious issue with one miniature, which in the end, only added a couple of weeks to shipping.
We strive to keep people updated at all stages of production to let them know how the manufacturing is going.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
