Giant Rats have recently made a home in the ancient dwarf built sewers of Old Midlam Town, and even the city's hardened rat-catchers are struggling to cope with rats as large as dogs!
Where they came from, nobody can say for sure, though the Great Wizard Gudgrief has his suspicions...
The Wizard has identified two species, the Giant Rat and the even larger Great Rat. Between them they have raided the grain storehouses, the pantries of well-to-do townsfolk and even carried off beloved pets!
Now the Town must take action against this terrible menace before all is lost to their ravenous appetites...
Welcome to a Mischief of Giant rats, a collection of terrifying rodents sculpted by legendary sculptor Bob Olley, available in two sizes: Giant and Great!
STRETCH GOAL ACHIEVED - AND THE GIGANTIC RAT SWIFTSQUEEK!
With the stretch goal achieved, we've decided to make one last miniature available for this Kickstarter - Swiftsqueek, scourge of the sewers. This Gigantic Rat will be available to choose as an option for the bonus miniature for the Mischief of Rats (instead of Snik-Snik! and Gratnash), or if you back Mischief of Rats x2, then you will receive one Swiftsqueek, one Snik-Snik! and one Gratnash in addition to your Giant and Great rat miniatures. The details of the stretch goal below have been updated to reflect this!
Thank you for all of your support on this Kickstarter!
STRETCH GOAL ANNOUNCED! ARRIVAL OF THE RAT LORDS!
The battle for the dark territory that lies beneath Midlam has begun! Using the knowledge of the city's many licensed rat-catchers, the town militia have ventured into the sewers to take the battle to the rats.
However, the rats have begun to respond in strange, unpredictable, ways as if guided by some strange intelligent force. When the militia heads north, the rats veer away to the east. When they split up into scouting parties, the rats ambush the weaker groups.
Sightings have been seen. Glimpses of rats more terrible still, great Rat Lords who hold dominion over their rodent brethren and form a counterpoint to the guiding hand of the Baron and High Wizard. This will indeed be a terrible struggle!
Should we reach £3000...
Those who pledge for one pack of Giant or Great Rats will receive one Rat Lord of their choice (either Snik-Snik! or Gratnash).
We will include one of both Rat Lord miniatures free with every Mischief of Rats pledge, OR they may choose the Gigantic Rat, Swiftsqueek.
We will include one of both Rat Lord miniatures free with every Mischief of Rats X2 pledge and they will receive the Gigantic Rat, Swiftsqueek.
Backers who choose the One Great Rat and One Giant Rat pledge would be able to choose one of the Rat Lords of their choice (either Snik-Snik! or Gratnash).
As always, we need to reach our stretch goal, to make it happen so please help share and promote our Ratty Kickstarter!
About Midlam Miniatures and Our Kickstarters
This is our tenth Kickstarter! We are using it to help develop and extend our range of miniatures, in this case, Giant Rats!
We have been very grateful to all the support we have received in the past and hope you will join us on our latest project.
Our nine previous Kickstarters - Wizard Apprentices, Wizard Halflings, Cultists of the Kraken Lord, Servants of the Undead Pharaoh, Halfling Adventures, Winter Adventurers, Common or Garden Gnomes and the Ghosts of Midlam Manor have all successfully funded and shipped. Halflings - A Class of their own is due to ship in July 2018, and is being developed separately and is unnaffected by the launch of this Kickstarter.
A Note on Metal
The miniatures are cast in a high quality pewter, with a high Tin content, but may contain a small quantity of lead. We unfortunately cannot guarantee lead free models. Most 'lead free' metal usually contains a small amount of lead to help the metal flow into the mould. Below is an actual picture of the shiny metal we use.
Anticipated Delivery Date
The delivery date of September 2018, is our shipping date, rather than an arrival date. As we ship all over the world, delivery times will vary considerably, even within the same countries. From our experience, the majority of deliveries take as little as a couple of days (UK), to a couple of weeks (international) although we have found a minority of deliveries can take up to (and in rare cases more than) a month to arrive. We ask you to please be patient as it is our experience that almost all deliveries do arrive safely at their destination.
All images and miniatures are ©2018 Midlam Miniatures.
Risks and challenges
Risks are low, though there is always a small chance that, for one reason or another, a figure does not cast properly.
In these unlikely circumstances we would either get a replacement mould or commission a sculpt by the original sculptor, matching the original as closely as possible, with whatever modifications are necessary for the miniatures to cast correctly.
Should this happen, the estimated release date of September 2018 for all miniatures could be pushed back by a month or two until any problem was fixed.
Although, across all nine of our Kickstarters, we have only had one serious issue with a miniature, which in the end, only added a couple of weeks to shipping.
We strive to keep people updated at all stages of production to let them know how the manufacturing is going.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
