PS4 + Vita Unlocked! Believe it!

We can now put this fellow on consoles! It's like a magical dream unfolding before my very eyes. Thank you, lovely souls of the internet.

Details on the Challenge Mode

This mode will have several mix-up mini quests for you to test your skills at; you'll have wave-based challenges where you fight off increasingly difficult hordes to see how long you can survive as you level up, boss rush runs, speed runs and other odd modes that wouldn't typically fit in the main game. All will have a scoring mechanism that unlocks achievements, plus we are working on local co-op for this mode.

Art Contest

I'm waiting to hear back if this is sanctioned by Kickstarter before launching anything official, as has been mentioned by a few backers it may not be within their policy.

In the meantime, please keep the fan art rolling as it's amazing! Regardless of if it is officially sanction we will still do a feature of the best work submitted. We're looking for original takes on the main Drifter/alternate Drifters, new bosses (more to be revealed by us soon!), landscapes and any other radically creative images that are related to the game.

Post it up on the Facebook page, or email it using the contact info on our main page. We'll pick the best a week from today, Wednesday, in a shiny new update. If we can do the contest, the winner will receive a $500 Tier Reward! If we can't, you'll be featured and thanked profusely and may get something fancy dropped in your email.

That's it for the moment. Thank you again for the immense support of this dream.

Love all the concept art coming in. This is my first kickstarter game and I am seriously checking it every few hours to watch the backers add up and keep watch out for more details. just about to up my pledge for a second time. This is a game I really believe in and I can't wait to see more. have you thought about using fan art in the loading screens between areas? assuming there are any.

      PS4/Vita pledge bundle?
Or I gotta do $30. Which I am cool with.

    3. TheDevilatyourDoor on September 21, 2013

@Ted B I second that sentiment. I would pledge more for an actual hard copy of the game on Vita, along with a box.

    4. Anis on September 20, 2013

Pledge because of vita support :)

    5. Amish on September 19, 2013

I'd give ya another five bucks for a ps3 version.

    6. Andrew Helps on September 19, 2013

I was just wondering, and considering that I'm not much of a gamer (but a sucker for stuff like this) this might be a bit of daft ask, but would it not be possible to release a title like this on XBOX 360 and PS3 forward compatible with the XBOXone and PS4? I can't imagine either console having any trouble running it. I hope that doesn't seem too studied!

    7. Ubersnug on September 19, 2013

Has there been any thought on releasing a version for the Xbox One?

    8. Alec Bentley on September 19, 2013

It would be cool if you could incorporate challenge mode as an arena in the main game world. Like the arena in the original SNES shadowrun or Oblivion but with the gritty dark feel of your game.

    9. Sysko R on September 18, 2013

more levels and more bosses > challenge mode.

    10. NinjaMic on September 18, 2013

So happy the Vita version goal was met. That makes my day.

If the fundraiser does meet $350k for the physical boxed copy tier, will it be possible for some of us to get a boxed Vita game on a physical SD card? That would be unfathomably cool, especially for people like me that enjoy/collect physical-release Vita games.

    11. Christopher Hamilton on September 18, 2013

Such an awesome surprise. I backed this within moments of discovering it for the Mac version but I was secretly wishing PS Vita would be a reality.

Cannot wait to have this on the go :)

    12. Abdiwak Yohannes on September 18, 2013

Oh man, I can't wait to get some drawing time in this weekend! I love concept art and this game had me hooked since day one!

    13. Relytia on September 18, 2013

Congrats man. I always love seeing huge gaming success stories on Kickstarter, especially when the game is as magical and amazing looking as Hyper Light Drifter is so far. Even my wife, when she saw the trailer, urged me to pledge. I didn't have to convince her or nothing. We both love Miyazaki's films, and immediately saw the Nausica and Laputa influences. Awesome.

I know people are probably pestering you about this already, but please consider a Wii-U launch too. It's my favorite console to play these sorts of games on. Either that or the 3DS, although I imagine the work involved in making it stereoscopic must be difficult.

Keep up the good work man!

      @ TIllburg @ Koshinator

I really hope that this art contest is a different story and ok with kickstarter because the people on this project make some sweet looking art and all deserve a price!

I have been warning Heart Machine about the contest and this is the project that i know was warned by kickstarter when they had one.
I hope im wrong about this, but I did it because i think better safe then sorry.
it was a diffrent story with sharing a link on Facebook, Twitter etc etc could let you win its tier for free..

    15. David Cherry on September 18, 2013

      This makes my day.

    16. William McClean Davidson on September 18, 2013

Oh, I now see on the main page it says you can choose a Vita code at the $15 level or above. Great!

    17. William McClean Davidson on September 18, 2013

Please let us know if there's a specific pledge level we need to be at in order to get a copy of the game on Vita instead of PC. Thanks!

    18. Max Murray on September 18, 2013

Awesome. Looking forward to it co-op on the PS4!

    19. Vedran Perendija on September 18, 2013

So goddamn stoked about this on PS4/Vita! Can't wait to see how it turns out.

    20. Koshinator on September 18, 2013

The Art competition itself isn't in violation of Kickstarter rules, but you will not be able to pledge the money yourselves for that tier for the winner - the prize has to be awarded outside of the kickstarter process (ie, you aren't able to donate to your own kickstarter - but you'll be able to award the same tier awards to the winner externally through email or whatever)

    21. Chris on September 18, 2013

I am stoked beyond belief for the PS4 version...can't wait to see those colors in full HD!

awesome ! so glad to know I'll be able to play HLD on my Vita !

    23. James Lewis on September 18, 2013

Hey Alex, is there any limit to the amount of pieces we can submit for this week-long contest?

    24. Mathias Scarborough on September 18, 2013

Is there any way to specify that I want the Vita version of the game instead of the PC version? If not, that's totally ok, I'm happy to experience the game on any system, but I'd prefer to put it on my Vita.

    25. Ryan Sinclair on September 18, 2013

Congratulations to you Alex! I so love you guys at Heart Machine. Challenge Mode sounds like it's gonna be a palooza of fun!

    26. Corey Hackathorn on September 18, 2013

      Here's hoping for a 360/Xbox one version.

    33. Drifty Boots on September 18, 2013

this game is amazing, and you should feel amazing! glad you hit the goal, let's keep going to the 300k stretch!

    34. Tillburg on September 18, 2013

Wait is the problem that you don't know if you can give away a reward tier for an art contest? I've seen this done in several Kickstarters before, like the following update:

    35. Claude Thompson on September 18, 2013

Will Vita be a standalone version or will I NEED a PS4?

    36. Kevin Spicer on September 18, 2013

      Awesome! That is all.
