The primary reason hyper-fast bows are all the rage, is that they fire an arrow on a flatter trajectory, so you can approach using a single “pin” for all ranges – Perisight (TM) levels the playing field by using "line of flight" as the sight line to optimize arrow placement.

Every archer knows that aside from poor form or an improperly setup bow & equipment, the #1 reason for missing their mark is misjudging the distance to the target. The really awesome shooters have an eye for estimating the distance and visualizing their sight picture to deliver an arrow exactly on target. For the rest of us, we have to spend hours and hours practicing. Not only must we practice our form and build muscle memory, but we also must develop our built-in mental range-finder. The majority of us have a day job, a family and all the other responsibilities that come with maturity. Therefore our time afield or on the range is very limited. Until now, there has been no way to avoid poor shot placement, except by putting-in the practice hours, marking our shooting lanes or taking the time to use a rangefinder.

Perisight (TM), Inc. is made up of a small team of innovators who love being outdoors. The aim of our team is to revitalize the sport of archery and enable the 21st century archer to make every shot more effective and more effortless. Our goals are to “accurize” and simplify the process of arrowing a target. But, more importantly we want to maximize our enjoyment of the limited time we have to spend outdoors.

By asking the right questions, understanding current technology and breaking some rules, we have enabled the modern archer to visualize their sight-line along the most important section of the arrows flight path – where the target is. This new product completely eliminates the need for the archer to estimate the distance to their target. Our tagline: Pure instinct, no guesswork says it all.

A single pin, non-adjustable bow-sight that requires no estimation of the target distance? Yes, and this is your future hunting sight.

As we know, most eastern white-tailed deer are taken from 10 – 30 yards. As long as the target is in your normal hunting range, this single pin sight will put the arrow exactly where needed – every time. Bow set up is easy: simply sight in on the single “pin” like a legacy sight. Wait, what? There is no pin? That is right; the sight pin has been eliminated. No more snagging or breaking fibers. Instead of the sight pin, the archer has an illuminated aiming point. This AimPoint (TM) is a glowing fluorescent green dot centered in your field-of-view. The illumination is provided by a large, rugged diameter fluorescent fiber. As seen in the photo, you simply align the AimPoint(TM) dot with the target and release. Easy? You bet.

Under normal shooting conditions, the AimPoint (TM) is plenty bright, but for those of you who hunt from a dark blind or in low light conditions don’t worry, we include a UV light source to better illuminate your AimPoint.(TM) And while green is the first choice of many knowledgeable archers, if you don’t like green no problem. Once we get into full production we plan to provide you with optional color choices so you can change the fiber in the field to customize your sight to fit your needs.

This patent pending sight is totally ambidextrous and can be quickly configured to mount to a right or left handed bow. Mounting is easy, remove your legacy sight and mount your Perisight (TM) with the two provided screws. Sight-in is just as easy. Determine the longest realistic shot you expect to make and subtract 10% from that distance and sight in at that distance. For example, I don’t expect to shoot over 30 yards; therefore I will sight-in at 27 yards (30 - 3 = 27 yards). Once sighted in, the screws are tightened and forgotten. Your Perisight (TM) will now simplify and accurize your archery. You instantly become a better shot.

So now you might be thinking, “Well it sounds pretty cool, but how does it work?” Once Perisight (TM), Inc. figured out how to make this sight do what we wanted, we had to figure out how to explain it. Sometimes the hardest part turns out to be not what you expected. Explaining it goes like this; and please bear with us, as you may know much of this, but it is worth sharing.

Theory:

The technique that archers have used for hundreds of years is to estimate the distance to the target and then raise the bow so the trajectory would deliver the arrow to the target. Obviously this took tremendous skill, attained by many hours of practice - or magic. Sometime in the twentieth century, pin sights became the norm. With this innovation, the archer was able to know exactly where their arrow would hit for a particular distance. More recently, by stacking multiple pins, the archer could now have multiple distances where they could count on an accurate shot. But with these legacy sights any distance between those points was not accurate and still involved the error of distance estimation between the known distances. You know…”is it two thirds of the way between the green pin and the red pin? Or is it only half the distance?”

The simplest way to explain how Perisight (TM) works is to consider the path of an arrow as it leaves the bow.The arrow follows a rising arc as it leaves the string, briefly peaks out and then follows an increasingly shortening arc as it approaches the target, where it stops. Legacy bow sights don’t look down the part of the curve that matters to the archer, where the target is; they look under the trajectory curve.Therefore these sights have an accuracy zone at two points as shown in Detail A. As you know, the accuracy zone at the target distance is really the only one that matters. And the legacy sights provide a very small accuracy zone.

By raising the sight line with a periscope, the archer is able to look down the further side of the trajectory curve. Thus, the accuracy zone has increased substantially. Using this simple idea, Perisight(TM) has been able to revolutionize bow shooting accuracy.

The bottom line on performance is that your accuracy will increase. Many of us want to shoot a single pin for the simplicity. If you already shoot a single pin, the Perisight(TM)  will give you a 2x improvement in your accuracy over a legacy sight. If you are using a multi-pin sight, you will find the Perisight(TM) simply revolutionary and a pleasure to shoot with.

The following curves show the arrows path plotted at the various distances of flight. If you are comfortable with using graphs to model the technical data, it will give you a clear picture of how the Perisight(TM) matches the trajectory curve of a typical arrow. You can also see the accuracy (or error) you might expect at the various distances for the same trajectory. It must be noted, that your results may vary depending on the speed of the bow / arrow combination you are shooting.

Funding

We didn’t start this endeavor to get rich or even sell bow sights. We had a need to gain the edge that was lost when we got too busy with real life to spend the hours practicing our shooting and estimating skills. We wanted the edge back. After putting our heads together to solve this problem it became evident to us that we had hit upon a solution that others would want to also take advantage of. So we took our boxy but functional prototype and made it look more like something that would be found in a blister pack in a pro-shop or big box store. We have kept a maniacal focus on keeping our costs down so we could offer this great product at a reasonable price to our fellow archers. We really think you will like it.

We've spent hundreds of hours brainstorming, designing, modeling, building, testing, patenting, picking the brains of experts and working out our production and business strategy. All things considered, the next part is relatively simple. We need enough money to buy material and equipment to make factory production feasible for 100 units. Once we have this we believe we can become fully sustainable. We need your help. In return you will get a first-production Perisight(TM) to evaluate and begin shooting arrows into your target of choice. Our business plan is to start out small and build a loyal customer base. We want early user feedback and are looking to build a team of pro-staff advisers that can provide us with candid opinions and real-life field experience. We know Perisight(TM) works, now we want to share this great product with you.

After this KickStarter campaign, our plan is to stay with on-line sales so we can minimize our overhead costs and pass the savings on to our customers. We know the current trend in bow sight manufacturing is to go overseas for substantial cost savings. In the manufacturing industry it is called off-shoring. We have rejected that idea. We believe that MADE IN AMERICA has a nice ring to it. What we aim to do at Perisight(TM) is to custom build each Perisight(TM) in small batches. It will be precise and tedious work, but we expect to keep our production at a modest volume. We've set our Kickstarter goal at just $2,000 because that's the minimum we need to get started down our path and deliver a limited batch of PS-1 sights into the hands of our supporters. By Kickstarter standards, this seems incredibly low, but we only want what we need. We hope you like what you see here and are intrigued enough to support this effort.

Timeline

The Perisight(TM) design is ready and most of production equipment is in place. We're lucky. We've found some great partners with whom to collaborate with on supplying the various component parts. It allows us to timeline this project with confidence.

November - January: Successfully fund KickStarter project. 

December: Work around the clock to hand craft, assemble and ship the best sights you've ever used. 

2016: Start shooting more accurately. 

Of course we are actually only hoping to hit our target. If we happen to exceed it, thank you and please understand it will be a first come first served delivery of completed sights. These sights take some time to build and we will be working tirelessly for you to reward your support. And speaking of rewards.....

Risks and challenges

The risks have been minimized by careful planning and testing. We have worked out the technical issues with manufacturing these sights, so we are confident we can build high quality sights for our supporters. And we regularly hunt with them.

We have conservatively aimed to provide a relatively small number of sights to our supporters. While we have high hopes, we also have our feet firmly planted on the ground. Therefore, a challenge would be that we get an unexpectedly large sponsorship that will challenge our small production team to deliver sights quickly. This of course would be a good problem to have and we would ramp up our production facilities and team to deliver. We would be happy to have this problem, actually. So - challenge us!
