Matt Conner and Stephen Gregory Smith are writing this new musical, and have a date set for the very first reading of it on October 18th. Our take on the piece is quite different than you would expect. It is an imagining of this film that focuses more on those trapped in the farmhouse than the "unidentified assassins" outside. In our post 9/11 world, we can all relate to being in our living rooms, glued to the tv and awaiting further instructions, all the while stocking up on plastic sheeting and duct tape in case something terrible happens while we are at home. This reading will allow us to see how the piece works with an audience, and will help expose the new work to producers, directors, and the theatre community. The feedback from this reading will let us know where we can take the piece from here. In order to do this reading, we have assembled quite a formidable cast of award winning DC actors. The money raised here will help to pay the actors for their rehearsal and performance time. The money will also help with costs of the reading besides actor pay (refreshments, any costume pieces, copying and printing), and will also go to the authors.
We are very excited about this piece, and believe that it will go very far, with your support. Thanks so very much!
