*Here's a new interview with the writer and creator of The Harbinger. http://kickstarter-conversations.blogspot.com/2012/11/the-harbinger-interview.html
Set in a world full of Norse, Greek, and Tolkien mythologies, The Harbinger tells the story of a self-serving warrior struggling to find his missing daughter and avenge his murdered wife. After committing a series of robberies and assaults on noblemen, he’s discovered fighting to protect a small village from malicious harpies. There, he’s arrested and taken to the queen who offers to help him find his daughter, but in exchange he must pledge his loyalty and serve the very king he seeks to kill. With traitors conspiring to overthrow the king and bring chaos to the land, the warrior endeavors to protect the people while restoring loyalty and order. But as stories of his exploits spread throughout the land, the reluctant hero discovers that his actions carry weight. He brings hope to the people, and with that hope comes power. His legend will grow. He will be known as… The Harbinger… and where he goes, change will follow.

Hello fellow story lovers!
I’m Travis Opgenorth, the writer and creator of The Harbinger. Myself, along with lead artist Sarah Rhoads, and contributing artists Amanda Kiefer, Chris Anderson, and Mike Kim need your help in bringing the world of The Harbinger to life.
The Harbinger started off as a TV pilot script that placed at the top of several international screenplay competitions including…
- Finalist: Reel Authors Screenplay Contest
- Finalist: Pulsar Sci-Fi Screenplay Contest
- Semi-Finalist: TVwriter – TV Pilot Competition
- Quarter-Finalist: Champion Screenplay Contest
I’m currently adapting that TV script into graphic novel format. When completed the graphic novel itself will be 90+ pages of rich, colorful, and compelling art and story.
With the help of the artists, I've begun developing character concepts, landscape art, and panel pages, unfortunately, without your support, that’s where this story will end. We're set to do the heavy lifting, all we need from you, the Kickstarter community, is your support.
Our goal is $12,000. With that we can make the first book of The Harbinger the best graphic novel it can be. The majority of those funds will go toward paying the artists, while the rest will be used to cover Kickstarter / Amazon fees, and printing costs.
Your loyalty will be rewarded:
For any Kickstarter project to succeed it needs loyal backers who are willing to not only pledge themselves, but are also willing to help put the word out there about whatever project they're hoping to see succeed. The Harbinger needs you to help spread the word. Please pass this link on to any friends, family, and comic book or sci-fi fans you think would be interested, and help us bring attention to this exciting project. “Like” The Harbinger on Facebook, email this link, or even send a messenger on horseback if you have to. You'll receive some exciting rewards that include prints of concept artwork, signed 11x17 one-sheets, insider information and updates, or even have your likeness used as a character in the graphic novel.
If you've read down this far, I'd like to thank you for your time and consideration. I have nothing else to say, other than please feel free to drop me a line. I will keep you updated on the project's progress, and with a little self-made luck, we'll all celebrate its release.
Risks and challenges
As a writer and producer with nearly a decade of experience working in the entertainment industry, I've completed a good number of creative projects with thin budgets and hard deadlines. I believe that experience will serve me well in producing "The Harbinger".
For me the biggest challenge was finding an artist who was not only talented, but who was also someone I could work with creatively, and who was passionate about the project. I not only found one, I found four.
Looking ahead I think the biggest challenge will be to stay on schedule. With a small team of people working on a collaborative project like this there's no room in the schedule for sick days, meltdowns, or zombie outbreaks. But, should Sarah and the other artists fall and become raging zombies, I'd strap them to a desk and keep them working. The project would get finished... though the art might be a little more abstract.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
