With the album "Again," the Woods/Axelsson Quartet has created a collection of beautiful, melodic jazz for all types of listeners.
The goal of this project is to seek funding for the pressing and release of Again, the first album from the Woods/Axelsson Quartet. Recorded in Malmo, Sweden in June of 2011, Again features new music penned by the groups co-leaders Kevin Woods (trumpet) and Leonard Axelsson (guitar). Both composers set out to create a jazz album filled with beautiful melodies and emotional communication; an album that would appeal to both jazz fans and non-jazz listeners alike. Axelsson's haunting and melancholy tunes are offset by Woods' playful uplifting melodies. The diverse tracks range from straight ahead jazz to funky blues, from beautiful ballads to American folk inspired waltzes. Joining Kevin and Leonard on this recording are bassist David Andersson and drummer Lasse Ehn, both young rising stars of the Northern European jazz scene.
