I started "The Adventures of Bitter Betty and her Prosthetic Leg" two years ago, as a way of not going insane at a horrible job. In fact, several early comics (not posted due to my wanting to stay employed) were fairly accurate dictations from one of my crazy bosses. It turned out, other people thought they were funny too and even liked the nuances of the stick figures. Thus began a weekly web comic and one of my favorite endeavors. Still inspired by life, Bitter Betty is just a girl who gets pissed off by things. Like we all do. Only she finds mocking those things funny. And she has a prosthetic leg. Which is usually not relevant, though she does occasionally like to dream of beating people with it when they're being idiots.
The BIG objective...
My objective is to print three different zines. One on life, one on love, and one on "other." Because sometimes aspects of life should just be classified as "other." I already have the drawings sorted, have some new ones not on the website to add, and am ready to go. But copies and binding materials aren't free. That's where you being awesome comes in. I'd love to print all three zines and be able to keep costs low.
I'm going to have a booth at APE (the Alternative Press Expo) in October in San Francisco and could not be more excited. This is an amazing annual event (connected to comic con) with an awesome range of artists from beginners like me to top people in the industry. I'll be representing my comic for the first time and want to have a product I can be proud of. In addition to printing my comic, I am also hoping to generate enough funds to make free bookmarks and pins for people. Because who doesn't love free bookmarks and pins?
