Lazarus began as a dream. Literally. Director Mike Bredon had a dream that provided the framework for a moving screenplay by Screenwriter Lara Gerhardson about love, betrayal, family, and redemption all amongst the backdrop of impending apocalypse. But Lazarus became more than that. The production brought together an independent film collaborative in our small town. It united the passion of young artists with the experience, wisdom, and gravitas of seasoned veteran artists. Cinematographer, actor, and musician, Gary Burger freely volunteered countless hours on this project because he believed in the essential "give and take" that occurs when a group of artists come together to create something new. Actor, James Bredon, was ever-ready to contribute his natural acting ability to the film. The depth of his emotion is caught in the subtlety of his actions and the silent intensity of his moments alone on screen. Sadly, both Gary and James passed away before the film was completed. We wish to recognize the significant contributions that these two important men made to Lazarus and finish it as they would wish us to do. It is important to us and it was important to them to turn a dream into reality. We have made it through production by cobbling together funds and relying on the kindness of community volunteers; however, the post production process is a long and expensive endeavor that we are now asking for your help with. The funds raised will allow the production team to finalize Lazarus with color correction and impeccable sound. Every frame is important, and every person irreplaceable. Much appreciation for your consideration, and a very deep and sincere thank you.
Risks and challenges
The challenge to completing Lazarus, at this stage, is strictly financial. After all this time we've worked on the project, our resolve is unwavering. Hard work at the studio is what we love. The files have redundancy and if something were to happen to one system, we have off site back ups. We will finish Lazarus.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
