At SweetStory, we’ve been perfecting our recipes and baking up sweet treats out of our 550 square foot bakery for the past three years.Located in historic Old Town Sherwood, Oregon, our delicious bars have graced countless dessert tables. Our decorated sugar cookies have brought smiles to the faces of Sherwood’s youngest residents. And our custom cakes have helped so many celebrate birthdays, baby showers, weddings and more throughout the area.
Now, we have an opportunity to bring a little sweetness to a beloved and historic home in Old Town.
The “tea house”, a turn of the century Victorian turned commercial building needs a new family. At over 1800 square feet, the new SweetStory will not only preserve this beautiful home, but help it continue its tradition of providing a wonderful gathering place in Old Town. And, of course, allow SweetStory to expand and serve the community it so loves.
Over the years, SweetStory has taken great joy in partnering with so many wonderful organizations in and around Sherwood.Cupcakes for the Harvest Festival Cake Walk, Oregon themed cakes for the elementary school, themed cookies for Voices for the Performing Arts, snacks and treats for Sherwood Foundation for the Arts, treats for Ladies Night Out and so much more.
Our new location will allow our guests to enjoy a sweet treat and a cup of coffee in our dining room.Open up space for more custom cakes. Allocate additional space for our wholesale business. And, enhance your overall SweetStory experience.
Your Kickstarter pledge will truly help make the tea house Sweet. Funds will be used for a "SweetStory makeover"...updating the interior, moving and enhancing equipment, wiring and plumbing, purchasing furnishings, etc. Our design is in place, now we just need your help to bring it to life.
So, who are you supporting when you pledge on Kickstarter?
SweetStory isn't just about who owns the business, but ALL the faces you see when you pop in for a treat. We have a talented team of culinary professionals and guest service folks that help keep SweetStory running and support the local economy everyday.
As for the owners, Michele and Daron Howard. Well, we're local Sherwood residents thru and thru. We live right here in Sherwood along with our two boys. Michele has been baking and making candy from the time she was old enough to reach the counter top. And, Daron has been in marketing with several large, Oregon companies for the last 20 years (we let him get creative in the bakery, but keep him away from the ovens).
Now it's your turn...
- Check out our fantastic rewards. We have something for everyone at just about every level.
- Pledge. You'll be prompted to give your information so we know how to contact you (It's sort of like starting an account with Kickstarter). All you have to do is enter your email and create a password.

Risks and challenges
SweetStory has been successfully baking treats and partnering with the community for 2-1/2 years. Michele and her team continually create fantastic, new culinary experiences destined to keep thing fresh and bring in new customers. Daron has maintained a professional marketing career in Portland with a focus on retail marketing providing a wealth of ideas to continually promote SweetStory and keep it top of mind with its customer base.
While risks always exist when growing a young business, the tea house location also opens up many new opportunities for expansion.
