Why would anyone want to make a movie about death?
That’s a good question – and the answer is that death holds some of the greatest mysteries and lessons of life. By contemplating death, we may be able to achieve a freedom that removes the limitations and fears that constrain us from fully enjoying and participating in our own life.
“This is a movie for anyone who is going to die.” Deepak Chopra
PLEASE WATCH OUR TRAILER BELOW
Death Makes Life Possible is a feature length independent documentary about a subject that touches everyone and everything on the planet, and offers inspiration and hope for this chapter in our book of life.
What can we learn from the world’s wisdom traditions that helps us understand death and the worldviews people hold?
What can science tell us about Life After Death and potential survival of the personality?
What about Reincarnation? Heaven and Hell? Do our loved ones wait to guide us across the void at our time of passage? Do dreams help us prepare for our death and beyond?
Is it possible to “defeat death” and remove the fear of death so that we may live more freely and more fully?
Death Makes Life Possible explores these ideas and shows how contemplation of death may actually result in the achievement of unlimited peace and joy.
Death is one of those things that we may try not to think about – some of us live as if we will never die and pretend as if by ignoring it nothing will happen to us.
But what if looking at our own mortality could free us? What if looking death in the face actually makes us transcendent to death? What if embracing our own mortality gave us a freedom that we never knew possible? Or allowed us to live each moment to it’s fullest and to experience life as in infinite unfolding of experiences each one more beautiful then the next?
Death Makes Life Possible follows the journey of noetic scientist, Marilyn Schlitz as she sets out to discover the mysteries of life and death. Sparked by her own NDE as a child, Marilyn has been exploring the world of consciousness for the past three decades. Along the way, she has studied with and interviewed some of the greatest minds of our time. Learn more about what she has discovered from spiritual masters from many world traditions, disciplines, and perspectives.
We’ve completed principle photography with some of the greatest scientists, anthropologists, philosophers, spiritual teachers and thinkers of our age –
including Deepak Chopra, Mingtong Gu, Stuart Hameroff, Lee Lipsenthal, Edgar Mitchell, Dean Ornish, Dean Radin, Marilyn Schlitz, Rupert Sheldrake, Rudi Tanzi, Luisah Teish, Jean Watson and many others.
We’ve been able to do an amazing amount of work with very few resources but now we need your help to complete the editing and bring this exciting project to life.
How can you help?
The journey behind this film project began about 15 years ago when Marilyn Schlitz, PhD began interviewing scientists, anthropologists, spiritual teachers, and philosophers about death and the possible survival of consciousness after. What are the different cosmologies and worldviews that people hold about death? What do they have in common?
Marilyn has recorded people’s personal experiences of near death, out-of-body, mediumship, reincarnation, and the final days of life. With the collaboration and inspiration of writer and spiritual teacher, Deepak Chopra, our small team of filmmakers began working with Marilyn to create a feature documentary that could bring these stories out and in the process, help heal a widespread fear of death.
We now have principle photography completed and are in the process of putting the film together. Now we need to take the next few steps in creating something extraordinary. To finish the film, we need to purchase additional stock footage, create some animation, produce the music track and finish editing the film. That’s a lot to do but we’ve gone a very long way with very little and we can make it happen with just a little more. And we need your help!
We’ve achieved a great deal with our labor of love but now we need the additional resources to make Death Makes Life Possible a reality.
You can get involved and help make this film manifest its potential in a number of important ways:
• Choose one of our thank-you gifts for your financial support!
• Tell your friends about the film on Facebook and Twitter!
• Share your stories with us on our Facebook page, Death Makes Life Possible.
• Like our Facebook page to see sneak previews!
We understand not everyone can contribute financially, so it will mean a lot to us if you can spread the word to your friends, families and co-workers. Please use Kickstarter’s share tools to help others learn about our campaign.
Death Makes Life Possible will ultimately change the lives of many people who are afraid of death, who may be facing the passing of a loved one or may be facing it themselves, or who work with the dying. As Deepak says, this movie is “a must see for anyone who’s going to die.”
We hope that you and others will join our Facebook community and share your views and stories and we hope you’ll tell your friends about this movie! We would love to hear from you!

Is my donation tax deductible?
Though we are a non-profit donations through Kickstarter are not tax deductible.
Can I increase my pledge once it’s been made?
YES! Once you donate to our campaign, you may want to change your incentive reward to a different one, or increase your pledge amount. To do so, go to Kickstarter and sign in.
If you go to our campaign page, the green “Back This Project” button has been replaced with a blue “Manage Your Donation” button. Click it and you can enter a new amount, or choose a new incentive.
What happens if the money isn’t raised in time? Unfortunately nothing. If our goal isn’t met before the deadline, no money changes hands and we will not be able to give this movie the added value it needs to create a global impact.
Can we exceed the goal?
YES! What an amazing problem to have. Kickstarter will allow as much money as is given before the deadline. Maybe that would mean a more widespread theater release, or more unique physical copy packaging. The possibilities are endless.
How do I contact you?
Find us on our facebook page – just look for Death Makes Life Possible or email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org
If I donate, when can I redeem the incentive?
All incentives, big and small, will only happen if our goal is met. If we do meet our goal, immediately after our deadline we will ship all physical items available directly to you. It will be our priority to schedule the more personal incentives as soon as possible. You will hear from us. (More on this as we get closer to our deadline and completing the film).
Who does the money go to?
Every penny (minus the fees for Kickstarter’s involvement) will go directly to the movie budget - i.e. Your money goes directly to the funding of this film.
$15,000 seems like a low number for a movie budget. Doesn’t it?
You are correct, $15k is not very much. But we can do a lot with very little and this will get us to the first finishing line – a fully edited version.
To get the movie distributed and shown we will need to raise more funding and attract a distributor but getting the video edited is the first essential step in making that possible. We hope you will join us in this adventure and help us get to the next step in making this exciting project possible.
Death Makes Life Possible is needed!
The adventure of life and death is the ultimate story – and this documentary takes us from the smallest reaches of quantum space to the infinite mysteries of the human mind in the search for consciousness and the true nature of our existence.
This movie can help start the conversation with those who are about to make the journey, and anyone who considers death and the meaning of life…. How can we make sense of the teachings of the great religions and spiritual traditions in the light of science, and philosophy… and how can we prepare ourselves for the ultimate adventure? Please help us if you can!
