Hey, this is Samantha from NYC indiepunk band, the happy problem.
Our newest album is called “Head Case” and we’re about to shoot the video for the second single, “Curvature,” but we need YOU. Take a listen to the song at our website, www.thehappyproblem.com, and we're even giving away a FREE DOWNLOAD of "Curvature" right now, just for reading this! That's how much we like you.
(Ok it won't click on here, but you can use that link, above. ;-))
The first video from “Head Case” was for a song called “Matador.” It’s about a bar filled with drunken hipsters, so we shot it in our friends' bar, Idle Hands, on Avenue B. You can check it out at http://youtu.be/vPUKnslq_T0 or watch this:
While “Matador" is about New York City, the new song, “Curvature,” is about living in Los Angeles and struggling to maintain your identity in a place filled with glamour and excitement but also intense competition and a lot of boob jobs. We don't want to give everything away, but the video concept involves big disguises and celebrity. We think you'll find it addicting.
“Curvature” is an important song to me personally because I started the happy problem while living in LA and I got a lot of inspiration from that city. We made the first happy problem album there and those songs have been featured in TV shows over and over again, like "Privileged," "Teen Mom" and even "Keeping Up with the Kardashians."(!) And now, songs from our new album, Head Case are finding their way onto TV as well, including "MTV Real World San Diego" and ABC Family's "Switched at Birth."
The coolest thing is that those TV shows play all over the world, so now our songs have been heard in Australia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Brazil, Canada, France, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Romania, Sweden and the UK.
We're keeping the momentum going by making this video for “Curvature." We have a great director, Michael Izquierdo, experienced producer, Ying Liu, and awesome creative team which includes screenwriter George Strayton, photographer Rita Kabalan, and director Craig Defolco and producer Sara Rempe of the upcoming indie feature film, THE LAST DAY OF AUGUST.
We're shooting the video in June and we need your help! As the lyrics in "Curvature" say, “You see what you want to see…” You can help us see this video come to life by donating right now. We have many different funding levels with cool rewards which you can check out right there. Thanks so much in advance for helping us with this and we look forward to showing you the final product!
