      we'll be sending out another address update very soon. We prefer to keep them as close to when we know we'll be shipping. As for the update, we only made a limited number of Midnight Editions. It's possible we could have more, but since we will be replacing some of the early faulty units, we'll be short on inventory. Give us a bit more time to see how many units need replacing (don't worry, we found the problem and the T1s won't have it) and we can look at upgrading. Otherwise, the black still looks great.

      Hi Jo,

      thanks for trying it out. Unfortunately we've found that we have been given a number of bad batteries, you nailed it. At this point there is nothing that can bring it back to life. We are working on sending everyone that got a bad battery a return shipping label so you can send it back to us. Once we have a replacement helmet in stock next month we'll ship it back to you. I'm sorry for the additional delay, but we only got a very small shipment from our manufacturer before their holiday.

      Got my helmet today, looks good, but the front doesn't work. Charged it, pressed it, but no luck. I noticed there was a O ring on the red light button, but nothing on the white. Could the battery be busted?

      that definitely sounds like a bad unit. We're working on figuring out the best way to get replacement helmets out to those with bad ones. Could you please email us at hello@torchapparel,com so it's easier to keep you up to date and contact you? Email is much easier than the Kickstarter messaging for things like this.

      I have the same problem as irrelevant, but it's the front light for me. It started working again though. I connected it to USB again and when I pressed the front button it turned on, but all the front leds are on when charging. I think only one led should be on? And 10 minutes later the front light doesn't work again! So mine has the wires wrong too I guess. Hope there are some Midnights left in London.

      Received the helmet last week and although it initially charged front and back, when I unplugged the charger the back light would not turn on. Please send return postage when that is ready. Other than that, the product looks great and excited to see your idea come to fruition.

      thanks for letting me know of the issues you've got with your helmet. We've sent an email reply to your previous message with instructions on how to test it and mention that we will gladly replace your faulty helmet. I'm sorry you go ta bad one and we have identified an issue with our manufacturing assembly process that is causing this issue. I am working with them to assure our next shipment doesn't have these same issues and as soon as we have another L/XL Midnight in stock we will replace those that got bad units.

      Hi there,

      I just got my midnight helmet this morning (yeah!). Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be charging (boo!). I tried both USB ports on my Macbook pro. My monitor with USB, and a direct AC to USB adaptor. Is there something else I can try to get it to light up? It was working out of the shipping box this morning, then after charging it it stopped working. Occasionally the back (red) LEDs will work for a minute, then they quit.

      Hi David,your cable went out today although I think I wrote a different name on it, sorry for that.

      Campbell, we had difficulty getting the European shipment out of China, and although we didn't think they would arrive for a couple weeks, we found out that they are hitting our facility tomorrow. Strange, but good news none the less. They should start going out Monday.

      Hey Jacs,

      I appreciate your honesty, and I hope that you will respect mine as well. The reason that I don't include hard dates yet is because I have learned from my mistakes that I can not account for situations that are out of our control. I tried that in the beginning and as you pointed out, I was wrong by a year. I could tell you mid December, but that is if everything goes perfectly, which nothing has to date.

      The best I can do is continue to update everyone until the control is back in my hands, which will not happen until the product actually arrives at my facility.

      I'm not going to make excuses, but let's remember that the requests made by so many during the actual Kickstarter campaign required a total re-design of the electronics which in turn required a re-design of the helmet itself. I was happy to make the changes because I thought it created a better product, but the original time line went out the window as soon as we decided to make those changes.

      While I am forever grateful for all of the backers and you all putting up your own money to get this started, please understand that it was just that, a start. This project and the changes aside from the time have taken a total of over $400,000 to get to this point. So please understand that while I am doing my best to get these out to our backers, it is most important to get it right because there is no room left for a second try.

      HI Nathan, Thanks for the update. Do you have a revised timeline for delivery? It sounds like you are near completion which should enable you to let backers know when we can expect to receive our product. I appreciate your hard work but I feel you need to be more accountable to a set deadline with our money. I am not the only one who feels this way. On December 14th, 2012 I sent you an email requesting this info privately to which you promptly replied "We are looking to begin shipping around February next year". I have to admit in terms of that goal you missed the mark entirely. Perhaps by as much as a up to a year considering your latest update. I still support this project and I appreciate your updates and look forward to the project. Happy updates and pretty pictures are nice but I think the question that is still on everyone's minds is..when are we getting our product? Period. Thanks so much for a prompt reply in advance.

      Hi Ed,

      I did get the samples, we just finished a photo shoot this week, but our photographer is working on all the post production work such as cropping, sizing, cleaning any pixelation for night shots. etc. I did follow along and snap some shots and will try and get some up soon, but I've been dealing with getting the rest of the samples together (12 in all) to our testing facility so we can get in line for our official certification tests. Stay tuned and I will get something up real soon.

      I have backed 20 projects on KS, not one has met the initial timeline so I understand things take longer than expected, that is the price you pay for something that is only an Idea.       Hey Guenther,

      sorry to hear that you are "Not happy!!!", our team has been working very hard and posting regular updates. Today we finally showed production samples and offered a shipping date coming soon, so I'm not sure what you might like me to "fess up" to. As for the fact that our helmet is being produced in China, although I had initially tried to produce it in Taiwan, our manufacturer decided they would not be able to handle our volume at their small Taiwan facility and so we moved it to their China facility. This has been openly communicated since the beginning, and if you are implying that the quality will not be up to par, I hope that you realize that 90% of all bicycle helmets are made in China and I hold in my hand a sample that not only meets, but exceeds my expectations so trust me the quality is excellent .

      I appreciate your support and hope that you enjoy the product as much as we have enjoyed seeing it to fruition, if not I will be happy to buy it back from you.

      Hi Campbell,

      we're working on the supply chain to get all of the materials and parts to our manufacturer, I'll be going for a visit early next month and plan to have lots of updates during that time. Right now there isn't much to share because everything that's going on right now is mostly purchasing and contracts etc. Basically we are spending a bunch of money to get all of the parts, etc. and finish tooling.

      I should have some cool pictures from the tooling process once they get to a certain point and I will be sure to post those for all to see.

I have sent everything to our manufacturer and once all is approved, tooling will finally begin on the actual helmet body. This will be the big sigh we have all been waiting for.
