REMINDER #1: This is the last public Kickstarter update for the Drop Target Omnibus! After funding ends on December 1st all future updates will be for backers only. If you are interested in continuing to receive updates, please back the project at the $1 tier (or above).
REMINDER #2: December 1st is also the deadline for adding additional copies of the Drop Target Omnibus to your pledge. Please check this FAQ for instructions on how to modify your pledge if you would like to add extra copies.
Over the last week Jon and I finished all of the remaining new content! (my 10-page comic and a new collaborative illustration). The only tasks left to finish the book are: complete the proofreading, implement the corrections and type up our annotations for the "Notes" section in the back of the book. Everything is on track for our projected timeline of having the books in your hands no later than January 2018!
With just a few days left in the campaign, we wanted to do one more promotional push, to get the word out to as many people as possible. We thought a fun way to do this would be to highlight the "blurb" quotes from the back cover of the Drop Target Omnibus.
Jack Guarnieri is the founder of Jersey Jack Pinball and has been incredibly supportive of our zine from the very beginning. It was so cool watching Jersey Jack Pinaball form and release its first game during the five years that we were creating our zine (2010-2015). Pages 400-407 of the Drop Target Omnibus are a Replay Review that Jon wrote about some strategies for playing Jersey Jack Pinball's first game, Wizard of Oz.
Bowen Kerins is a three-time winner of the PAPA Pinball World Championship, and a great member of the pinball community. Pages 204-217 of the Omnibus feature a Tilt Talk interview with Bowen that we conducted over Skype, and pages 244 & 245 have a Video Mode review of the Pinball Archive Videos. Many of these videos feature Bowen giving tutorials on various pinball machines. Bowen helps fund the filming of these tutorials through his Patreon.
Michael Schiess is the executive director of the Pacific Pinball Museum. Pages 119 - 123 feature back-to-back articles: a Pinhalls review of the PPM and a Tilt Talk interview with Michael Schiess. Pages 224 - 227 also feature a write-up I did of the 6th Annual Pacific Pinball Exposition which was organized by the PPM.
Got a blurb of your own for Drop Target? Please post it on social media today or tomorrow to help us reach any last potential backers as we head into the home stretch of our funding window! It all wraps up on the morning of Friday, December 1st. Thanks, everyone!
