Don't worry. We are adding new pledges as the old sell out. The reason we do this is so that the earliest backers get their printers sooner and we don't get too overwhelmed having to ship all these printers by the same date. We are really working hard on getting these printers to everyone ON TIME
We currently are NOT offering the heated bed because we are still reaching for that stretch goal of $1M so you can all get the heated bed for free. If we don't end up hitting the stretch goal, we will offer it as an upgrade at a TBD discounted price. We will offer it after Kickstarter ends, but before we ship out the printers so that everyone who wants one will be able to purchase one before shipping
The Rigidbot uses open source software and firmware with a few minor modifications. The firmware is called Marlin. The software we use to control the printer is called Pronterface. A link to download these programs as well as the recommended settings will be available on our website. Of course there are other software and firmware options available in the RepRap community that users are free to experiment with and are compatible with the RigidBot.
The LCD / SD upgrade allows the RigidBot to print without being connected to a computer. You can control temperatures, move the head, as well as start and pause prints. The LCD will provide information about the print while it is printing.
Without the LCD / SD upgrade, you can control your printer via a USB connection to your computer.
We currently are not offering a Dual Extruder option so that we could keep things a little bit more simple. We wanted to get everyone a working RigidBot as soon as possible with the chance to expand and upgrade in the future. Once we get everyone their printers, we will work on adding different options and kits so you can upgrade if you would like.
