All reward tiers £10 and above will now come with ONE FREE A6 SHEET OF STICKERS! Stickers will include the marginalia stars of the f. 1 campaign – along with some new and upcoming marginalia talent! The full sheet design will be shared after the holidays.
There is also a new ‘stickers only’ reward level available.
If one sheet isn’t enough, for every additional sheet of stickers you would like, just add £1.50 to your total pledge amount. More details on how to adjust pledge amounts here: Update 19/12/2017
BONUS PIN DESIGN!
After both stretch goals were unlocked in just a few hours, it was decided that a bonus design should be added to say thanks! The final shown-down was close, but The Snat came out the victor! So drumroll, pleeease... *drumroll noise* Ta-da!
When the campaign ends you will now be able to choose from any of the FOUR pin designs available!
If you are an existing backer and would like to order an additional pin now that the bonus design has been released, you can easily change your reward tier or adjust your pledge amount. More details on how to do this can be found here: Update 19/12/2017
*CHRISTMAS CARD NOW AVAILABLE TO DOWNLOAD*
Do you have a hard to shop for medievalist in your life? Or are you a hard to shop for medievalist in someone else's life? This Kickstarter makes a wonderfully unique Christmas gift. Because the pins won't ship until the new year, I have created a special Christmas card design that you can print off at home (or work) to wrap up and give this holiday season. There is also an e-card version you can personalise, if that's more your style! You can either back the campaign on their behalf, in which case the pin will get shipped directly to them - or you can back it yourself and arrange all of that on the other end.
Not giving the gift of Marginalia Paraphernalia this Christmas, but still want to give someone a unique medieval marginalia inspired card? Go ahead - the downloads are free!

In this folio campaign I have chosen three marginalia to turn into enamel pins. The initial launch is for the Jousting Bunny design. Both the Nope Dragon and the Nun Picking Penis Tree designs are separate stretch goals (see details below).
These will all be hard enamel pins. The smallest is about 30mm (1.18in) and the largest is about 45mm (1.77in) - at their widest point. The pins come with a rubber back, each colour selected to match the main design. Each enamel design will come with a bespoke backing card, showing off their locations in the different manuscripts.
The final designs may vary slightly from those shown here, to allow for the best quality and durability (e.g. the bunny's lance will likely end up shorter and stouter). I will remain as faithful to the original artwork as possible and I will keep this page and all backers updated with any changes.
In order to offer three different designs, I have decided to add stretch goals to this campaign. Manufacturing each design has a separate cost and therefore I have to ensure a minimum amount of funding for each. The Nope Dragon is the first stretch goal, unlocked at £500. The Nun Picking Penis Tree is the second stretch goal, unlocked at £1000. Once the Kickstarter has ended, you will be able to choose from any of the available designs, so you don't need to choose at the point of backing.

Snat: Stowe 17 f. 185
December to New Year: Kickstarting
January: Backer Surveys and Order Placed with Manufacturers
February: Production (4 - 6 weeks)
March (and maybe, but hopefully not, April): Shipping
The following is a breakdown of the initial £500 funding goal, plus each £500 stretch goal achieved.
Kickstarter Fees: 10%
Packaging and Shipping:* 11%
Production and Design: 74%
Charity Donation:** 5%
*The cost of shipping is included for UK postage - for Worldwide orders an additional fee is added on at the time of backing to cover the additional cost.
**These enamel pin designs are based off medieval marginalia, which is in the Public Domain. As the scribes responsible for their creation cannot be fairly compensated a portion of the amount raised will go towards the Arts Emergency charity.
After The Kickstarter
As there is a minimum order for each design, if we meet the stretch goals I may end up with some enamel pins at the end of the campaign that need a home - these will be available for sale in an online shop.
Risks and challenges
This is my first Kickstarter, but I have a lot of experience running other projects successfully and I have done a lot of research ahead of launching this campaign. I have experience of fulfilling art and jewellery orders and feel well prepared to scale up with this project.
I am using a well-known manufacturer (https://www.madebycooper.co.uk/) for the pins, which has an inclusive design process to ensure these unique designs end up as the best quality enamel pins. As mentioned above I will update this page and all backers with any changes to the final designs from those already shown.
I have decided to go with a separate manufacturer for the backing cards in order to keep the initial price down. This means I will have to back each pin separately before packaging for shipping. If this campaign goes beyond the stretch goals planned, which would make this less practical, I have allowed enough flex in the funding for ordering the backing cards from Made by Cooper with the pins (ordering such a significant quantity would mean the pricing becomes feasible).
The most likely part of the process to encounter delays is packaging and shipping, however by allowing sufficient time for organising the results of the backer surveys I am confident in ensuring this goes as quickly as possible. If for any reason there are delays beyond the expected shipping dates, I will backers know immediately and provide a revised arrival time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
