Here at the end of all things & what lurks in the shadows of the Staglands

The last 2 days are upon us, and we’re thrilled with all of your support, encouragement, and excitement about Serpent in the Staglands. We’ve surpassed our goal and are over 200% funded — this is an amazing feat and it’s all thanks to you.

Some folks have asked about PayPal funds going towards the next stretch goal, and they definitely are. With a very impressive fundraiser from the prestigious magazine/forum RPG Codex, our PayPal sum (as of now) is sitting at $1803, so we're very close to the next stretch goal! We'll keep this number updated on the main page, and will keep the special rewards available for few months before making it pre-order only.

Unsavory humanoids

Throughout the rest of the year more information of the world of Vol will be revealed, but we wanted to dive a little more into the Staglands directly. This information below is of general knowledge to the populous. The relatively recently founded peninsula has its share of trading political problems, immigration issues, monsters still roaming off the more well-traveled roads, but also a problem that every new colony faces: tension between new arrivals and natives. We spent some time yesterday working on the concept for the stout race of natives and wanted to share:

Their violent culture and hostility towards the new races coming to the Staglands has led to them being outright killed when seen. You will inevitably run into them on your journey, and can experience the pleasure of their company firsthand.

The creatures known as the Bloodless are of a different origin entirely. Though rarely seen or talked to, they are known to populate the entirety of Vol, usually sticking to themselves in the shadows away from civilization. They stand dominating the tallest man or woman, have noble features but a pale, blueish skin. They are immortal, but do not possess any god-like powers (the only other immortal beings known of). Fortunately they’ve had several thousands of years to hone their fighting skills, as well as ponder the mysteries of life, and are always ready to engage in earnest philosophical discussion before tearing your limbs off. They neither trust nor like mortals, and find them to be rather pointless.

The Spirit Realm

Despite the monstrosities of the Spirit Realm plaguing the men and women of Vol for all of the known New Age, the only thing known of them is that an unknown god created them as a fail-safe for humanity. It is common belief that the creatures exist from the chaos man sows. War feeds them and evil births them. Their ultimate purpose is unknown, but it’s safe to assume that the turmoil your presence will bring to the Staglands will not go unnoticed by the Spirit Realm.

Musical send off

An edited version of this track was featured in our video, but we wanted to share the whole composition (from our composer V-Axys), as it is both awesome and fitting tribute to the last 2 days.

Congratulations on the stretch goal! Here's hoping for a good last two days and a final stretch goal.

Quick correction, in the stretch goal graphic it should be test your mettle, not test your metal.

      Sounds awesome, especially the Bloodless.
