Have a question?
Congratulations, guys!! The got into the best old-school rpg article of Gamestar.de!!! :D
Thanks Dave! We'll have more updates on that and the expansion soon! You guys are the best!
Copper Dreams sounds great. If there is to be a Kickstarter I'll back
@Lost-brain Thanks so much! Glad to hear you're enjoying the mechanics!
So, I'm late, but I just begin the game today^^
Juste wanted to say : "Thank you, that's ererything that I wanted to have !"
To be honest, I never was a fan of this kind of pixel art graphism -but I also know that's your à Team of two people-, but the gameplay, the mechanics... They're great, simply great.
I heard you want to work on a cyberpunk cRPG after you finish the expansion ? Can't wait for that !
Just wanted everyone who pledged for the art book tier(+) to check their emails! Details with where to download included for all your art and making-of perusal pleasure.
@Whalenought I got the electronic version in e-mail. Just checked. Thanks for the quick response.
Sorry, got the keys yesterday but I only posted today because I was playing it. XD
@Torment The art book is coming next week. We wanted to be add some post release information in it. We'll have an update when it's ready!
The handbooks were attached to the emails we sent yesterday containing your key. We just verified that your email had a handbook attached, but if for some reason you didn't get it, we'd be happy to resend it to you.
@Whalenought, are the digital rewards (handbook, art book etc.) still pending? The Steam version does not come with those.
@N.A.Jones: Absolutely, we'll be working on that this week. We'll announce it on our forum when it's available
By any chance will there be a downloadable pdf of the manual at some point?
Just got the e-mail with my GOG key. Congrats on finishing the game and, also, good job on putting out a demo.
I just got my email and I'm downloading the game now!
Thanks for the update, I figured you'd be hard at it. Ofcourse there was that nagging worry that somehow I'd been missed..
Thank for all your hard work
Thank you for the update, Hannah.
I'm so sorry you haven't gotten your email yet, we've been working through the list since last night and should be finished in a few more hours, so expect it soon!
Thanks for bearing with us, we appreciate all of your support so far and are working as hard as we can to get your rewards to you.
It's a bit after 6pm where I live and I was wondering when the backers were going to start receiving those emails? I see it's available to download on Gog.com and Steam already. As Laird said, it would have been favorable as backers to get the game first.
Thanks! Hope all is well.
Adding my voice to the group of confused commenters..
How and when do I get my game?
No disrespect, but I could've simply waited for release and downloaded already. Backers should receive priority.
Great. Thanks for the heads up
@NAJones We'll be sending them out via email throughout the day.
Question for the creators: Perhaps it was said in a previous update or in the comments below, but I assume Steam keys will be sent out via e-mail, or do I need to go your website and follow some other steps?
Got my journal :) The Carrion God who hungers for flesh approves:
@Tet Yoon Lee We're just giving out one copy of the game, Steam or DRM-free. If for some reason you want the distributor version it's the exact same as the DRM-free version.
@Torment Thank you! And we appreciated all of your beta testing early on, it was a huge help!
I just answered the survey.
Are people who choose the Steam key not going to be given the option for DRM free via the WhaleNought site? Personally I prefer it when I get both the DRM free and Steam key. Steam is generally easy to use and keep updated and also a centralised place for achievements (I'm not sure of Staglands is going to have them, but generally) so I use it most of the time. However I do like to have the DRM free option, so I don't have to worry what happens if Steam decided to do something stupid in future or fluff around with offline mode etc if I'm going to be without internet connection for a while. It's also nice to be able to have a copy which isn't beholden to anyone else.
There is a small risk of abuse (people using the DRM free and selling the Steam key or whatever) when you provide both a DRM free and Steam key, but many things to it nowadays, and there can't be that many of the 1000 or so backers who'd abuse it. Of course it'll be cool to get both a GOG (presuming you get on) and Steam key as well and some people have done that, but that's a bit less common and also depends whether GOG is willing to let all backers have keys.
If you aren't going to provide both DRM free and Steam, will the Steam release at least be without DRM enabled?
I've been so busy with work and the realization that have so much time to devote to one game that I kinda dropped out of the beta.
Younger generation please keep plugging away at it! I remember when I had the energy to edit the save game in hexadecimal if I really couldn't pass some point.
Joe and Hannah, you did two awesome things. Create a CRPG, and lived to release it. No matter what happens after you put it out just remember you guys did it and most people would never dream at the chance.
Serpent in the Staglands beta 2.3 now available, featuring the deadly and tricky to kill Harvesters! http://bit.ly/1CgElmX
Interview with Whalenought
Can't wait to dig into this. So much good RPG goodness out there.
Patch: 2.1 available!
Over the weekend Rock Paper Shotgun and PC Gamer hosted some small preview articles following the release of the trailer. We’re always happy to see Serpent in the Staglands getting shown to a broader audience. Articles:

Beta 2.01 is up! V-Sync options and Spell hotkeys are some updates to note.
Download instructions in the last email if you missed it, otherwise Windows can just be opened and patched.
Hello backers! Beta 2.0 is now available — we'll have more info, a trailer, and begin some play throughs of that in the near future with a KS update.
Looking forward to this. Based on what I've seen, I think I'm actually more excited about SitS than PoE.
@jaroslav Yes, we're still in beta phase, I'm sorry if there was any confusion! We'll definitely announce the release here and via email, but before that you'll also receive an email verifying your reward and linking you to the page where you can download the game on release.
Is game stiil in beta phase? I've bought an early adopter version for $15 and I wonder whether I didn't miss some annoncement. If you are still testing, don't hurry please, and repair as many bugs as possible.
Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know we'll be aggregating news shout outs and any sub-Kickstarter Updates in the Announcements section on our website:
Notably we were recently on PC Gamer's Guide to 2015:
And mentioned in a wonderful article hosted on PC Gamer by Peter "Durante" Thoman about the CRPG Renaissance:
That name wouldn't exist in those articles without the financial support of you backers, so cheers to you all.
The beta is looking really good despite the bugs we're reporting. I think backers will be very happy with this once its released.
Looking forward to the beta, everything looks very nice so far.
Haven't even expected for beta to come so soon.
I really hope that my schedule will allow me to give the beta a good thorough test)))
Great job, keep it up guys!
@ Torment: We're excited to be getting the beta details finalized, which we're shooting for next weekend for release. We'll be doing a Kickstarter Update for applicable backers at that time. The Grade 1 Skills & Spells will be available for testing at the start, and we'll be doing Grade 2 a bit later on as we implement them.
We have the forum ready to go to:
Looks like they updated the website with a game guide:
Happy to help with testing! Win 7 64 bit over here.
If you need something tested, I will gladly help. I have xp, vista, win 7, and win 8.1 pro to test on. Also a netbook with win 7 starter.
@ Coda Hey: Great, thanks! We'll add you to the random pool list, we just need to know the OS you'll be using.
Hello again I would gladly test the various mechanics that you mentioned in the most recent update.
Great! Can't wait to hear the progress!
@GAMEHORDER: We totally agree and are prepping a big one for next week which will include polish status, character arbitration and some new info on game/world structure. Also, please convey our deepest regards to LugLug.
bout time for an update
