Sound Through Music Presents
Music is Science and Science is Life! "At The Wave" uses musical theatre to teach the science of sound. Science is life!
Music is science and science is life! Sound is life! With the technology field growing more and more everyday the need to know the basics is important. Kids can operate many different kinds of technology but they have no idea how it works. Because of technology, our children like bells and whistles. Sometimes without the bells and whistles important information can be a little boring to learn for them. I believe we have the answer. Learning science through music is the goal of Sound Through Music.
At the Wave is a children's musical that teaches about sound. it teaches about the four elements of sound, how sound travels, vibrations, sound waves and much more all through musical theatre. When I was growing up we had school house rock. We knew what a noun was, a verb was a Bill and a conjunction. We learned that all while singing the songs, It is a well known fact that children learn through singing and listening to music. One of the very first songs we learn is the ABC song.
The biggest expense when presenting the show is the Venue. We have performed at BAM Fisher theatre. We sold out but we basically broke even. That's usually the problem we have. The bigger venues cost so much. We need to do bigger venues so that we can generate revenue. Our goal is to raise enough money to kick off a tour for NYC for schools in May 2018. There are 5 boroughs in NYC and the sad thing is that a lot of our children never leave their borough unless its a school trip. NYC is the home of broadway, however most of our children never get to see a broadway style production.
The musical is very interactive. It teaches about sound but it a also teaches about how great is is to be different. Songs like Timbre, the Quality of sound, or the thing that makes our voices sound different. I'm an individual let's kids know that there is nothing wrong with them. Even the song "Gonna be a star" that shows that even a kid that is special needs can be a Star! I've watched children walk out of a show singing these positive songs.
The characters are so relatable that I decided to write a web/tv series called "Meet Me At The Wave". The children were so interested in the characters lives. Meet Me At The Wave can now be seen on Youtube, and on BRIC free speech TV all over NYC. The funniest question to me was when a kid asked Frequency where he lived. Frequency said by Utica ave in Brooklyn and the kid told Frequency he did too and he should come over for a play date. I guess what I am trying to convey to whoever is reading this is that this is a special project that kids love and we want to share it with the world.
We will be using the funds toward the payment of our first venue. We want to travel to all 5 boroughs Our plan is to present it as a school trip. The proceeds from that show will be able to fund the next venue and so on and so on. Eventually I would like to expand our reach to surrounding areas. you can read all about us by visiting www.soundthroughmusic.com Thank you for your interest in our project.
Risks and challenges
In all honesty, I know we are not asking for enough money to pull off what we want to do. Each venue in NYC is a lot of money. However once we get the initial money that is needed I will just have to keep flipping it. I would love to come on here and ask for the $20,000 that it would really take to make this happen. I'm just hoping I can get enough to get the ball rolling. I believe in this project. I watch the reactions and the learning that happens when the performance happens. It's a great project and I know that once it truly catches on I can take this to all of the school systems in the United States and maybe the world.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
