When I was 10 years old I had a simple dream to take a road trip to Ann Arbor, Michigan and watch a Michigan football game. For 22 years I've found an excuse on pushing the trip back til 'next year'.
Now that I have a son who also loves Michigan football I decided that 2014 would be the year. The trip would fulfill not only my childhood dream but also one of my dreams as an adult to make a documentary film. The fact that it is with my favorite person in the world, my son, Graydon, gave me even more motivation to make it happen.
Well, as life would have it we ran into some major financial issues that looked like we were gonna have one more year to wait. But because of my amazing wife's support and Graydon's commitment to do whatever he could think of (save coins) to make it happen, I decided to give Kickstarter a chance.
AnArhbar (as spelled by Graydon) is a documentary about the journey to make a dream come true.
We're hopeful to raise $3400 to put together the whole trip, take care of equipment, hire an editor/creative man to help put it together and to produce an end product for digital and DVD use.
Every son has memories of their dad. Some have memories that he wasn't there and some have memories that he was. I want to be a dad that was/is there and I'd love this project to motivate others to do the same.
Here is where we are planning on visiting: Wrigley Field (Chicago Cubs game). Busch Stadium (St. Louis Cardinals game). Michigan Stadium (Michigan football game). Globe Life Park (Texas Rangers game).
**Should this project turn a profit, we are thrilled to have an Ann Arbor partner, 826Michigan, that we will donate proceeds to. It's an amazing organization that works with students on expository and creative writing skills. Definitely worth checking out (826michigan.org)!
Risks and challenges
We are fully committed to getting this film put together by the end of 2014. One major obstacle is we have to find someone that is gonna help us finalize, edit, produce and overall make my amateur-ism look semi-pro.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
