About this project
Hi, I'm Tim Carter, founder of www.AsktheBuilder.com. I want to create for you, my backers, the most authoritative series of step-by-step videos showing how to build a shed.
You might be intimidated by the process like my buddy Scott. He would love to have a man-cave shed, but doesn't think he can do it. He's wrong.
When Scott watches a few of the videos and sees how easy it is, he'll be ordering lumber in no time. And so will you. You'll be able to build your dream shed using the videos in this series. Your shed might be for gardening, a basic storage shed, or a real workshop. Whatever shed you want, you can have it.
My goal is to show you how simple it is to build a high-quality shed - one you can really be proud of - one that looks fantastic in your yard - one that you can escape into to do whatever you want. I want to inject you with all the shed-building skills and magic I have so that you get what you want.
I need you to help me so I can help you and others build the shed of your dreams.
But here's the rub. To create all the great videos, I HAVE to build a shed. You can't fake it on video. The shed is going to be built in Meredith, New Hampshire. In case you're wondering, I've got lots and lots of experience building sheds.
Building a shed costs money. No one thing in the shed is too expensive, but when you add up the costs, all of a sudden it's a bigger number. On top of the material costs, I have to pay the videographer, the person to edit and proof the videos and ebooks, etc. I'm sure you get the picture.
Movie producers have the same problem - that's why they have to get the help of the big movie studios. If I don't reach my goal with your help, I can't take the time to do this project the right way. And that's my motto:
Do It Right, Not Over.
Can I Build the Shed With You, Tim?
You bet you can! I would love nothing better than to have you come and help build the shed. Doing this will ensure that you'll be forever a goddess or god in the AsktheBuilder.com lore! We'll work, eat and be merry at the end of each day. Look for yourself:
When Do You Break Ground, Tim?
I already have the building permit, so I'm ready the moment you help me fund this project. The first thing I have to do is mount the wireless live web cam up on a tree so you can watch the progress we make each day!
We could be pouring the concrete piers as early as the end of the third or fourth week of June, 2012. I expect the total construction time to run about 45 days. That means the shed should be complete by August 15, 2012. All videos for this project should be completed by September 1, 2012.
What Kind of Shed, Tim?
This isn't going to be an ordinary shed, no way. This one is going to have a waterproof wood floor, special concrete piers, an overhead door, skylights, sun tunnels, a turbine vent, an attic, real stairs to the attic, and fantastic interior storage shelves.
You're going to discover all you need to know from the planning stage all the way through nailing the last cap shingle if you become part of this project. The step-by-step videos are the key.
No matter what size shed you want, the things you'll discover in the video series will allow you to get started on your shed.
You do NOT have to build the same shed I'm going to build in this project. Your shed may be much smaller. But no matter what the size, you have to put it together the same way.
Because the shed I'm building is so big, 16 feet wide by 24 feet deep, you could take all of the videos and use them to get you started on a small cabin, house or small barn if you want. Here's a scale model of the shed I'm building.
What's the Final Product from the Video Series?
The final product from this project will be thirty stand-alone ebooks that contain tips, photos and the videos. Each ebook will contain multiple videos. They will be very similar to ones I currently have produced about smaller projects.
Please download a free copy of my How To Grout Ceramic Floor Tile. After you look at it, my guess is that you'll agree this series of How to Build a Shed is going to be a big hit. And your name could be on the AsktheBuilder.com Shed Backers page forever and ever!
Together we can build your shed, or one for your mom, dad, brother, sister, friend, co-worker, etc. Someone you know needs a shed right now. They need to know about this. Please send them a link to this page so they can consider backing this project.
