A massive thank you to everyone who has supported us. We're over half way to our target now, but there's still a long way to go, so please help us spread the word. The more people you tell about Beep Beep Yarr!, the more likely we are to be able to help children learn about computing.
We're really excited to announce that if we reach our target, we'll be making the online puzzles open source (under the GPL). This means that we'll make the source code available to everyone. You'll be able to inspect, modify and otherwise meddle with them to your heart's content. Hopefully, this will mean that the children that first get interested in computing through Beep Beep Yarr! will be able to come back when they've got a little more knowledge and learn even more by peeking behind the scenes.
With the source code available, you can be fully confident that the puzzles will always be available to you. As times and technology changes, whatever happens to us, you'll always be able to adapt the puzzles to work on the latest devices and keep them online.
One thing that we're a little concerned about is people using Beep Beep Yarr! artwork to create competing products that are low quality, but that look deceptively similar. Because of this, our plan is to license the images separately so that if you plan on releasing your changes to our puzzles to the public, you'll have to create your own images for them. We think that this is the best way to allow everyone the freedom to inspect and modify our code without creating any confusion for new readers.
