The Pillars of Dawn Series
If the Muses die, all inspiration dies with them. The Dark Age is coming. The continuation of The Pillars of Dawn series is here!
The new Dark Age is coming. Only the Muses stand between mankind and Mnemosyne’s Curse.
Hi, I’m Athena. This is my series titled, The Pillars of Dawn; a story about the Greek Muses reborn to rescue mankind from the coming Dark Age.
I’m launching this kickstarter to raise funds for the publication of two books: Scold of Jays, and Plague of Gargoyles.
Two full novels in the Pillars of Dawn series!!
My first kickstarter project was for Murder of Crows in 2012, which was a huge success. All rewards and benefits were delivered on time.
With the help of patrons via the Patreon service, I was able to then publish Sinnet of Dragons, the prequel to the series. All rewards were delivered on time.
This is the score so far: The Pillars of Dawn, Act 1
- Sinnet of Dragons (prequel): Published
- Murder of Crows (Book 1): Published
- Scold of Jays (Book 2): Needs editing, proofing, design
- Plague of Gargoyles (Book 3): Half completed, Needs art, beta, editing, proofing, design.
KICKSTART These Two Books!
Risks and challenges
For total transparency:
The biggest challenge to sending the project rewards out on time is the developmental time required to polish Plague of Gargoyles.
Plague of Gargoyles is currently at the 50% mark which leaves it vulnerable to time delays if personal financial needs require me to take on emergency work shifts. At best, there will be no interruption in development time, at worst, there will be a completion delay. I’ve mapped the workflow out to mitigate most of the time development needs, but there is still some vulnerability in this challenge.
The second biggest challenge is the editor process.
As of yet, I’ve made it through editorial pipelines with little friction: however, if an editor finds a large gap I missed, or they themselves have a time interruption (working with independent service providers makes this challenge a very real possibility) then my project will be hung up in that stage of development.
Any time your work requires third party collaboration or support, there are weak spots in the timeline
That’s not to say these things will happen, only that they may. Delays are a bummer, but not a deal-breaking game stopper.
Thank you so much for understanding these unique challenges!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
