Frequently Asked Questions
The large sized map board provided in the "Very Large World" ($500) pledge level is 30" x 44" printed on banner quality paper with a Tyvek backing and matte finish.
The one we had at Gen Con withstood a whole week of display and demos (and you all know how rough gamers can be) and came through just fine. I still use it for demos in my area.Last updated:
We're glad you asked!
Kickstarter sorts/arranges the pledge/reward levels by amount. Behind the scenes while editing the project, the levels are in the following order (using the $40 Early Bird as my example) The Hare, Canadian Hare, Global Hare, all at $40 with additional fees for the freight.
But when we went to preview/publish it, the order changed to The Hare, Global Hare, Canadian Hare; in some other instances it got weirder than that. Sooo... we had to use brute force to get them to sort the way we wanted (to help group things together for you)
Hence you see The Hare (US) at $40 with free freight; the Canadian Hare at $41 with a fee of $24, and Global Hare at $42 with a fee of $43.
Wait! I'm still confused, you say. The description of the pledges says an additional fee of $25 or $45, why are you only adding $24 or $43?
The discrepancy of $1, $2, or $3 is built into the pledge amount - so Canadian Hare at $41 + $24 freight, is the same as if we had listed it at $40 + $25; you're still paying an additional $25 in total for freight, but we had to rearrange the numbers to make it all sort correctly.
**** UPDATE *****
As you probably saw in either the Shipping or Updates section, we now have new less expensive shipping options available to all our backers outside the USA. We have made pledge levels incorporating tese new shipping costs and denoted by the letters RF (reduced freight) at the front - i.e. - RF CANADIAN HARE, RF EU HARE, etc...
These pledges still have the 'extra' $1, $2, or $3 built into their listed 'price', but the description of each also lists the full amount (including shipping costs) which you need to pledge for them. At thsi point, the 'extra' $1-3 is just so they sort correctly on the page. Please refer to either the description of the pledge or the handy Shipping Chart to see the proper amount you should be pledging.
We hope that makes sense to you all.Last updated:
Can I use the 3" Sandboxr Bunnies with the 'regular' sized board contained in the Cross Hares boxed game?
Short answer: no.
The 3" 3d models were originally designed as display pieces to sit on your desk or shelf and look, well, adorable. We showed them off at Gen Con 2013, and people started drooling over the idea of getting a set of them AND the large sized map we had for demos as a sizable pledge for the Kickstarter.
So, we offered the "Very Large World" ($500) pledge for just that. We wanted to make the bunnies available to folks who wanted them anyway, hence the $80, $150, and, now, $200 pledges.
You could try and use them with the board included in the game, but they'd be somewhat crowded.Last updated:
Jesse mentions in the video that it is a four player game, but it is actually for two to four players. It works best with either three or four, but is certainly playable with only two.
And, with the addition of the Co-Op Rules Booster pack (see Stretch Goal #2) you can now have up to EIGHT players, if you wanted.Last updated:
Berona's War, as mentioned in the video, is a graphic novel which Jesse co-created a few years back and ultimately led to the creation of Cross Hares.
The two titles are separate properties and Berona's War does not feature in Cross Hares.

Once someone has pledged at a certain level, Kickstarter doesn't allow us to edit or remove that level, unless and until all the folks who have pledged at any given level move over to a new level.
We have asked that everyone who pledged at the 'old'/original Canadian and Global Early Bird levels move over to one of the new RF levels (Canadian, EU, or Global) to help us eliminate these old (now redundant) levels. Most folks have done so, but a few folks are slow in doing so. As they filter over, we are restricting the availability to the old levels and when they empty completely, they'll go away altogether and leave just the RF versions.Last updated:
OK, the tiers were an effort on our part to add more bang for your buck. That, and some of our international backers outside of the USA, Canada, or the EU were still telling us that shipping costs were still prohibitively high. We wanted them to be bale to get some stuff which enhanced the game without their having to pledge for the game itself.
So, here's the deal with tiers:
They DO NOT replace any existing pledge levels. Unlike when we reduced the shipping costs and added new RF (reduced freight) pledge levels to replace the old high freight levels, the tiers will stand along side the existing pledge levels.
For those that have already pledged (especially the Early Birds) they act as add-ons to their existing pledge level.
To those new to the campaign, they offer cost effective ways to get a lot of swag at a bulk price.
Each tier INCLUDES ALL of the rewards of ALL the previous tiers. So, at tier 5 you get everything offered in all five tiers, tier four would get you all the swag from tiers 1-4, etc...
NOTE: and this is the big point here, while all tiers are pledge levels, NOT all pledge levels are tiers. So, just because you pledged at, say, the $200 level (a Bunny Bundle pledge) you would not be getting all the rewards from the lower pledges. The Bunny Bundle is NOT a tier.
All tiers are named TIER x, or TIER y. Non-tier - ala catre as I'm calling them - pledges have names like RF EU HARE, or BUNNY BUNDLE, or VERY BIG WORLD.Last updated:
Here at 1A Games it is our policy on KS to allow any and all pledge levels to be treated as an add-on. People are always asking if they can combine two or more pledge levels and get all the rewards if they pledge enough.
The answer is yes.
All you do is pledge the full amount and, if we need to, we'll drop you a note letting you know how much more to add for your freight.
After the campaign is over, we'll ask you all on your survey to specify exactly what, beyond the one chosen reward, you were pledging for, so we make sure you get all the coll stuff you are trying to get.Last updated:
OK, the various Hare pledges - HARE, RF CANADIAN HARE, etc... - are the Early Bird special pledge levels. They include one (1) copy of the Cross Hares: Testing Ground boxed game and any and all stretch goals unlocked during this campaign.
The $40 Tier 3 includes a copy of the postcard, the wallpapers, the .pdf sketchbook, a t-shirt, and the KS exclusive character Kane (with 1" figurine).
Why did we bother with Tier 3 if it doesn't come with a game, you ask?
Tiers 3 was designed with a eye towards potential international backers OUTSIDE of the USA, Canada, or the EU. Many of those backers are still telling us that shipping costs (while still better than before) are still just too high and thus make it impossible for them to pledge for the game. They say they'll just wait until the game hits shelves in their respective countries.
We wanted to give them a pledge level that would get them some cool swag and a low shipping cost, so they could pledge at all.
Also, if folks wanted to, they can use Tier 3 as an add-on to their existing pledge (although some of the higher tiers make that option less cost effective anyway...).Last updated:
With the exception of Kane - the KS exclusive character - yes, all of the figures we have currently made available to you as part of this project, and the Sazou: City of Crows figures which are NOT currently available, will be made available for you to buy separately.
This applies to BOTH the 1" play sized pieces and the 3" display sized pieces.Last updated:
