Slim White was a man born destined for country greatness. The progeny of a brief and bitter union between country music legends Kitty Wells and Conway Twitty, the son of Kitty Twitty soon found himself alone in Nashville, Tennessee, possessing only a half empty pint of Old Crow and a scratched recording of Buck Owens’ “Tiger by the Tail.” A failure in Nashville, and low on whiskey, Slim bummed his way to Columbus Ohio, where he would meet up with a rag-tag troupe of traveling country musicians known to outsiders only as “The Averys.” It was love at first sight. Thirteen-Thousand High Life beers and a gold record later, Slim White & The Averys have become household names. Today, we know The Averys better than our own children-- there's Slim, the loveable scamp; Boots is the happy-go-lucky one, and Jake--the heartthrob. Rich is the strong quiet type. There's also Ox, the so-called "brains" of the operation. If at the family reunion of country music Hank Williams is Paw, Patsy Cline is Maw, Merle Haggard is the favorite son, and Gram Parsons is the rebellious cousin, clearly Slim White & The Averys are the uncle that drinks a little too much to be allowed near the grill.
"Greetings From Hangover Town" is our first experiment in professional recording. The album was professionally recorded and, frankly, it sounds damn good. We'd really appreciate you helping us get it completed, and we promise you won't regret buying the music.
