The year 2017 is coming to a close and once more it's time for a all new calendar for 2018!
Launching the new Luxembourg Calendar on Kickstarter has become somewhat of a tradition. This will be the third year in a row that I turn to this amazing crowdfunding platform in order to finance my yearly calendar project.
This year however, things will be slightly different, because I wish to not only create a new Luxembourg Calendar 2018, but I also would like to create an all new set of Postcards from Luxembourg. This will be the 2nd edition for the postcards, and instead of making two consecutive Kickstarter campaigns, I thought it would be a good idea to combine both in one single campaign.
By supporting this campaign, you will be able to order the new Luxembourg Calendar 2018 as well as the new Postcards. To provide you with further incentive to support this project, you can also acquire some of my art prints at a ridiculously low price!
I hope this campaign will be just as successful as the previous ones and I already wish to thank all of you who are reading this and considering supporting this project.
My name is Christophe Van Biesen and I'm a fine art landscape photographer living in the tiny Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg.
For several years now, I have been concentrating on capturing the beauty of my adopted country through the seasons. The pictures that resulted from this endeavour have been well received in Luxembourg and have been part of several exhibitions. Furthermore limited edition art prints of these pictures have been acquired by numerous private collectors.
My latest work still concentrates on landscape photography, although I have been focused more on travel photography this past year. I also recently launched a new YouTube channel where I share my experience as a travel and landscape photographer.

Although Luxembourg is quite small, it is also quite beautiful. The city of Luxembourg is fantastic playground for a landscape photographer with its ancient fortress, its valleys and its lush forests.
With time I have become really passionate about capturing this beautiful country and its capital city.
About the calendar
This is an A3-sized landscape calendar with 13 beautiful landscape pictures of Luxembourg, with some of its most prominent sights and landmarks as well as some typical countryside views. The pictures are printed on 13 pages of 240 g/m² paper.
Once more, the pictures are the main focus for this calendar and there should be something for everybody: Luxembourg's gorgeous Grund neighbourhood, wondrous winter landscapes from the countryside of the Grand-Duchy, as well as intimate pictures of well-known landmarks.
The calendar has a metal spine and a hook for easy hanging.
Concerning the design of the calendar this will be a very sober and clean layout, somewhat similar to last year's calendar.
Once more, the pictures are the real star of the show. They will be really large and take most of the space. There will of course be the year, month and calendar days on every page and also a little legend for the picture, with its title and a small description. The calendar will include all Luxembourgish public holidays.
You can read all about last year's Luxembourg City Calendar on my website.
About the postcards
This will be the 2nd edition of the Luxembourg Postcards.
The new set of postcards will contain 10 different postcards of pictures made in Luxembourg. The postcards have a standard A6 size of 10.5 x 14.8 cm (4.1 x 5.8 inches). They are printed on 400g/m² paperboard. This paper is amazing! It's really robust and of much higher quality than most other postcards. On the frontside, each of the 10 postcards features a different picture made in Luxembourg.
The front side design of the postcards is still being tweaked right now, although they will probably be quite similar to the 1st edition postcards. On the backside you'll find a standard stamp space, some address lines, the title, year and short location description of the picture featured on the frontside, and of course my name.
About the price
Pricing is the same as for the previous projects. And you can save some money if you buy several calendars and postcard sets.
Just as for my previous campaigns, you will also be able to get some of my art prints at a very low price. If you select this reward, you will be able to choose a picture from all pictures contained in the gallery on my website.
Furthermore, you can also get a spot on my next landscape photography workshop in Luxembourg at a strongly reduced price.
About the Timeline and Delivery
The Kickstarter project will last approximately one month and will end on October 31st. The calendars will then go into production, which will take around 2-3 weeks. Packaging will probably take another week depending on the number of calendar orders.
The first calendars should be shipped by early December. Delivery in Luxembourg should not take more than 1 or 2 days. Delivery to Europe usually takes a few days. Delivery to all other destinations (USA, Canada, etc.) might take up to three weeks.
Hopefully, everyone will have received their calendars before Christmas. :)
Risks and challenges
This will be my 4th Kickstarter project, so I am confident to say that risks for this project are minimal.
The picture for the new edition of the calendar and the postcard set have already been carefully selected.
The layout of the calendar will be developed in October during the Kickstarter campaign.
If the campaign is successful, production will be launched in early November.
The first deliveries should be made in early December.
Delivery should hopefully be completed by Christmas.
