It's been a long time coming for my second studio album... and it's finally here!
Due to overwhelming support from my fans, I've set aside the idea of releasing a separate EP first, and we're jumping feet-first into bringing you the whole shebang all at once!
This is where you, the fans and music supporters, come in. I've spent a large amount already to bring these tracks to life, to deliver more music that you've all been asking for for several years now. But, as quality projects and labors of love go, these things take time and resources. I need YOUR help to bring the rest of the project to fruition!
Some of you know about the changes I've gone through, personally and professionally, within the past year. I've made changes to my style, my sound, and my band without losing the songwriter element that I believe is central to my music. I've also been working on creating a more organic rock and blues sound that I've wanted to bring to life for a long time now. With the people I've gotten involved, and help from my friends and fans (you!), I know I can bring you something we can all be proud of.
The album will consist of twelve (12) ORIGINAL southern rock and blues songs, including "Georgia Moon," "Storm Coming," "Dear Love,," and others that you, the fans, have, and have not, already heard live (and others you've been asking for!). The musicians I've chosen to bring this style to life, and who have so brilliantly been interpreting my songs, are:
--Sam Shahin (Naughty Professor) on drums
--David Brouillette (Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Revue, Vivaz!, Kyper, Dick Deluxe, Voodoo Grove) on electric bass
--and New Orleans guitar legend Cranston Clements (Cyril Neville, Boz Scaggs, Irma Thomas, Twangorama).
I've also included a limited budget for guest artist(s) to appear on several songs.
We've been recording at Word of Mouth Studio with Tim Stambaugh, and at Wild Child Studios with Bill Daniel. I plan to do mixing and mastering at Esplanade Studios.
Included in the Kickstarter goal is budget for my first music video, to bring one of these songs to visual life.
***If we reach well above and beyond the monetary goal (closer to, or above, the $10K mark), the number of songs will increase, in the form of additions to the album, single releases, and/or an acoustic EP.***
Risks and challenges
All projects come with risks and challenges. Those that face this project are, simply, time and coordination. Art and music are not always objective ideas that come together at a specific and set date, especially as I've been so blessed to work with musicians like Sam, Dave, and Cranston, who lead such full and busy musical lives.
The projected date for having the full, finished album in your hands is February of 2018. I will, of course, keep you all up-to-date as things progress, and if they run behind, or, even better, run ahead of schedule!!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
