Have a question?
So we have sci-fi, fantasy and horror covered really well, when are we going to have steampunk tackled?
Finally got my copy delivered to Canada today!
I just got my second copy today as well. I'm sure one of my gaming group will take it off my hands.
In Canada here. There is definitely something wrong with their shipping. I ended up with 2 copies of the book. The first one took about 6 weeks to get here while the second one took about 10 weeks. I contacted them to ask for an address to send the second book back and they told me to just keep it. They must lose a lot of money from late deliveries.
It has arrived! The second attempt came from Belgium. Thanks @Kevin Crawford for not only a beautiful book but also great customer service.
Mine hasn't arrived yet to Spain. It's been 3 months since the first attempt and 2 since the second. So, I'm not going to open another ticket because it doesn't make sense. I decided to wait a little bit more, until the end of the month. After that, we'll see.
Mine has arrived from Prague. Must have been sent via sea mail, how retro!
Hooray, my copy arrived in snowy Calgary today.
@Kevin Crawford Thanks for the offer. I'll give it another couple of months before my patience wears out. The odd thing is that a more recent softcover book (ordered the beginning of March) came in on Thursday. That one was printed in the UK, which probably means it was shipping via air as opposed to surface mail (ship). My fingers are still crossed!
@Paul- Canada has been a surprisingly rough spot for shipping. Lightning Source certainly didn't send its books from Eastern Europe last time I did this, so it came as something of a surprise. If the book hasn't arrived by the time your patience wears out, however, just let me know and I'll refund your pledge amount beyond the PDF level.
@John Taft - Congrats! I am running at 2 months 16 days and still no original book (I assume that it will come... hopefully). I figure this was probably surface mail, which means it was sent via a ship. My fingers are crossed. Good to know someone on the west coast received their book.
EDIT: 2 months 12 DAYS to receive. Somebody looked at the year...
2 months 3 days after shipping from the Czech Republic, my book has arrived in British Columbia.
OBS shipping is horrid to our fine country,
@Adam- Yes, it is to backers. You should've gotten the code that lets you pick up a copy for $100 from DTRPG if you'd like one. If that's gone astray, just message me and I'll get it to you again.
Is the UNIVERSAL OMNIBUS available?
@John Thanks for the heads up.
@Paul: Mine shipped about the same time. OBS to Canada, Western in particular, is maddeningly slow.
@Kevin: Ok. Let's wait and see if there's any luck.
@John Taft: I am in BC as well and still waiting for my books. The books should be arriving, but taking a [insert inappropriate language] amount of time. My first book was ordered on Jan 12th - no sign of it. I emailed for a replacement, fingers are crossed it will come eventually. I never knew the books were coming from the Czech Republic. Most of mine were labelled Magyar (Hungary) on the postage in the past, so I assumed they were coming from there. Of course, if OBS has changed printers, that could be a reason. I am wondering if there is a logjam somewhere. Or if my sacrifices to the postal gods were deemed insufficient...
@ Kevin: I will give it another week before I start in on customer service.
@Alex S: As i previously stated my OBS orders to BC have been averaging +2 months to arrive, due to E.Europe origin of shipment. If they shipped from the UK or US we would likely have received our books ~2 weeks after shipment - but they don't for some strange reason.
Update on my missing book in Canada: The replacement was shipped on 2018-02-16, still no sign of the original or the replacement. I'll give it a few more weeks before complaining again.
Regarding Issac's comment "not uncommon for international stuff." Well, I suppose it would be normal if it were coming from China. USA to Canada is no more than two weeks at the lowest service level. The two postal systems are well integrated.
@Alfonso- It's a frustrating situation, since I've never had any trouble getting Lightning Source to ship books to European addresses, either. If you haven't gotten a book by the end of the month, however, message me and I'll refund the difference between your pledge and the PDF level.
I am a backer from Spain.
DriveThru sent my hard copy for the first time on January 8, 2018. It never reached its destination: On February 13 I opened a ticket and a few days later they sent me another copy.
It is March 12 and the new shipment has not arrived either. Honestly, I do not know what to do. I've never had problems with DTR shipments, which have always taken around 15 days to arrive and never lost a package.
Sincerely: I feel like I've wasted the money with this project. I could have supported it in PDF and printed it on my own given the results.
@John That's bizarre- I can't see why Lightning Source would ship a book to Canada from a Czech printing plant. Even a British one might have Commonwealth postage advantages. To my understanding, OBS isn't the one who decides anything about where a book gets shipped from. That's all on Lightning Source to decide. If you're still waiting on your book and you haven't already contacted OBS about the delay, I'd talk to customer service there with your order number.
Just for the ongoing laughs. Still waiting in British Columbia, Canada.
DriveThru sent it Jan 9.
Recent orders from them have shipped from the Czech Republic, generally exceeding two months to arrive as of late.
If OBS mucked this up it will turn delivery into a six month window and that sucks.
(Canadian) Received my book roughly 6 weeks after shipping. Yes it's a long time but that's not uncommon for international stuff. I expect a lot of the folks below will end up with two copies.
Also a Canadian that didn't receive the initial book. Told Drive Thru and they issued another one. Just received it today - looks great!
Looked through the book quickly. I just wanted to say that I love the look of it. The page borders are really cool and I like how they are different for each chapter. The illustrations are great and the full page ones spectacular. They really put you in the mood to play.
From Montreal. So after waiting for a month, I submitted a ticket with DTRPG. They requested another print on Feb. 12. the book was shipped on the 17 and I've received it today. Looks very good.
No book for me either; another one gone missing in the Great White North. I submitted a ticket with DTRPG and they've shipped me a new copy. Curious what went wrong with all the Canadian orders though. Did anyone in Canada receive their book?
But it makes you wonder what happened with all those late orders though. Someone has access to the camera feeds at the customs? Me think we would see lots of employees throwing dices and filling characters sheets...
Well, got a quick answer! They should send a replacement soon according to their reply.
I was coming here to see if I was the only one with a very, very late book. Seems I'm not! I contacted their support
Still no book in Spain too. Opened a ticket with DTRPG as suggested.
Another Canadian here without a physical book. As suggested a few times, I'll do the same thing and file a ticket with DTRPG
Still no book (in Canada) so like suggested I'll file a ticket with DTRPG.
DTRPG has responded to my ticket: They're resubmitting the order with the printer, so I'll get one this time hopefully.
I'm glad that people are filing tickets with DTRPG about the delay- it's altogether annoying to have it take this long. In a more recent Kickstarter I ran, Canadian books were printed in Britain and shipped west, a process that seems to have involved less fuss and significantly less cost than shipping them north from America.
I'm in Canada and also haven't received my book, but I've had a couple past DTRPG orders take about 6 weeks to arrive so I'm not too concerned.
Another Canadian without their book. I've filed a ticket with DTRPG.
Just letting you know, still no book. I have contacted drive-thru as requested.
Another Canuck, still out of luck...
@Kevin Giving DriveThru a try, my request for aid has been sent.
@Doug- You'll definitely want to send a message with your order number to DTRPG. They can talk to Lightning Source and find out if the packages they sent north are being held for some reason. Unfortunately, I can't see into the guts of the process myself, but one way or another, we'll get you your book.
Another Canadian without his book. :(
@Patryk- That's a typo there- it's meant to be level-4 as the cap. A converted psychic gets level-4 early under those rules, but it's just a rough-and-ready switch over meant to spare the annoyance of rebuilding the PC and give them some compensation for the fact that they likely have fewer techniques learned than a psychic grown the ordinary way.
Question about conversion 1e characters. "Thus, a PC with a primary Telepathy discpline of 9 (...) would be converted to Telepathy-5..."
What about a rule that caps skills at 4?
Also, a PC with a primary discipline 7, would be transferred to skill-4, but at level 7 skill level should be capped at skill-3.
Is this intentional to make the conversion easier and faster and the general rules should not apply in this situation?
@Gwarh- That's disturbing, and you'll want to talk to DTRPG about your absent book if it's been 30 days since you got the shipping notice. They should be able to get you a fresh shipment if it's really gone missing, but if something's being held up in customs, Lightning Source, the printer, may know more about it, and DTRPG can inquire about it.
@ThePiachu- 10% of the basic hull cost, the same as the difference between a ship with only a system drive and a ship with a rating 1 spike drive.
How to repair or replace Spike Drives?
I see a few mentions of how a Spike Drive can be damaged during combat or space travel, but I can't seem to find some base cost for repairing or replacing a Spike Drive. I know there are rules for repairing systems based on their cost, but the basic Spike Drive 1 doesn't have a listed cost.
I can confirm as a fellow Canuck I also have not revived my book yet. So it must be something with customs as there are multiple Canadians who haven't received their books.
Even the Aussies have got their books by now and they are usually the last of anyone to get Kickstarter projects delivered to their doors.
