Update #31: First Prints, and a general progress update.

Hello Backers!

My apologies for the recent lack of updates our upgrade of our manufacturing area has taken longer than expected, but is almost complete, still some sorting out and reorganising but once we are finished we will be left with a much more usable manufacturing space!

The good news - We have the first 3D prints using an ultra high resolution resin printer, courtesy of Eddie from Zealot Miniatures.

Its not easy to tell due to the low quality photo and the reflective red material, but the quality of the prints is simply astonishing! an order of magnitude better than anything we have seen before. With this new printing technology now available, the figures for the new Kickstarter will be superior to anything we have previously released!

We are soon to be taking delivery of our own 3D printer, which will allow us to create awesome printed components in house, speeding up the whole process!

42k stretch goal achieved! - We made enough in our Pledge Manager so far that the 42k stretch goal is unlocked, anyone who pledged at Shard Strike and above will get a free body guard miniature for Idaho Yoshida!

The not so good news - The scale/proportions of the figures shown above are not quite right, which means we wont be able to cast these prints and start production immediately like I hope hoped.
I will need to do some trial and error to get the scale/proportions exactly right, and then make changes to these figures and also others which I have previously worked on, this means quite a bit more time sculpting than I anticipated.

The 3D printer delivery is also a bit behind schedule - I originally expected to have received it by now, but it may be another week, and once we have it it, assuming no problems, it will take a while to calibrate it, figure out how to use it best, and start producing the best possible prints.

What this all means is that we are realistically, about a month behind schedule.

I did factor in some extra time in my original estimate, so the current plan -

December - Finish Forge upgrades, get 3D printer up and running, get at least some figures in production.

January - complete all the CAD work and get everything from the basic pledge levels in production. Start shipping smaller reward packages at the end of January if possible. Start experimenting with vehicles.

February - Get everything into production - Our aim is still to ship the majority of the rewards by the end of February but for Cataclysm backers and people with lots of Add-Ons, (particularly the APC and Instigator which are more complex) the shipping date may slip.

March - Complete shipping and start working on the Rules and Missions. I have chosen to delay further work on the rules, so I can prioritise the miniatures. That way you can have your forces assembled (and painted?) by the time the rules are ready!

We will of course work as hard as possible to stick to our goal, and keep you fully updated!

Thanks again for your patience and continued support!

Joel

Update #30: Upgrading the Forge!

Hi Backers,

No new miniatures to show off today, but I thought I would show you what we are up to instead! For the past few days we have been busy upgrading our casting area (Which we call The Forge) with a new enclosed insulated room. The wooden wall, window and door in the photo have all appeared in the last few days, and tomorrow will get a lick of paint and some finishing touches!

What does this mean for you exactly?  Come the cold winter months in January and February, it will be much easier to keep our casting area at the stable temperature (Around 18-20 celcius) required for fast and consistent manufacturing. This means we will be able to produce the KS rewards at full speed, no matter how cold it gets outside, so that's one less thing which could potentially slow us down!

I hope to have an update with some news on miniatures, 3D printing etc later this week!

Update #29: No one expects the Spectre Operatives!

Evening all!

Pledge Manager - It seems to be working fine and lots of you (100+) have placed your pledge orders, thanks very much! Its looking very likely we will also unlock the £42k stretch goal.

Please remember to include your Kickstarter Username in the order comments box when you check out, along with any particular requirements or other useful information. If you are a Cataclysm backer, please let us know if you want the Recon Tracers (Rifles and some Missiles) or the Support Tracers (Smart Grenade Launchers).

Pledge Content Summaries - We have a two spread sheets created by backers (Thanks very much!) - Not official or checked for accuracy but a useful starting point, use at your own risk.

Garage Gaming spreadsheet with US Dollar Pricing Google Docs

Damon Prisk spreadsheet with slightly simpler format. Dropbox, XLS file

And a modified version listing what's included in each pledge option HERE (The official version checked for accuracy)

Unity Council Spectre Operatives

I have completed work on the Unity Council Spectre Operative Team! It took a few days longer than planned but I'm very happy with the final results -
Included in Shard Recon and up, and if you want another team its an £8 Add-On.

Separate torsos and legs, and the models will probably all have separate heads, but I'm not 100% sure yet. There will also be the female Operative (Stretch Goal) at some point for Shard Strike and Cataclysm backers.

Hope you like them!  Feedback very welcome but in the next 24 hours please if you want me to possibly make changes, as I want to send these to print soon so we can get them in production!

Next week we will have more renders and also hopefully more resin prototypes! We are making good progress with our production plan!

Thanks

Joel

Update #28 : Pledge Manager for Paypal Pledges!

Hi Everyone,

Our Pledge Manager is now up and running and can found here -

http://www.afterlifevolumes.com/pledgemanager/

If you backed the project, please see the "Backer Only" update #26 for details on how to use the Pledge Manager.

If you did not back the Kickstarter, its not too late - you can use the Pledge Manager exactly like our regular store to pay for the Rewards and Add-Ons you would like. The options for Paypal pledgers are exactly the same as the regular Kickstarter, so please read through the Kickstarter Project carefully to figure out what you want, add it all to your cart and checkout.

You will need to set up a new account to use on the Pledge Manager page, as its totally separate from our main retail store.

A few backers have created Spreadsheets showing what is included in the various reward tiers, and we will get one checked and uploaded on the website soon.

I am working on completing the Unity Council Spectre Operatives at the moment, and hope to have a render available later today.

Pledge Manager offline temporarily due to glitch- It will be back up soon.
