Changing the world, one breath at a time.
Our goal is simple and ambitious: to demystify meditation and make it more accessible to a mainstream audience.
ON MEDITATION is a series of short films that explores the deeply personal practice of meditation through individual portraits of extraordinary people.
The portraits together will add up to a full length work and provide a rich and in-depth overview of the transformative power of the practice.
So far, we've filmed two-time National Book Award winner Peter Matthiessen, Congressman Tim Ryan, actor Giancarlo Esposito (BREAKING BAD), Buddhist monk The Venerable Metteyya, and yoga superstar Elena Brower. Film director and meditation advocate David Lynch has agreed to be filmed next as well as best selling author Gabrielle Bernstein.
Each portrait focuses on a single person and explores how meditation works for this individual, how it has changed and continues to change the way he or she sees the world, and what the process looks like on the most basic physical level.
In this way, we get a glimpse into the mysteries of the inner journey and the refuge the practice offers.
Through these portraits, we begin to understand that meditation isn't something that can only happen in a Buddhist temple after years of study; anyone can meditate anywhere.
Congressman Ryan believes that as people begin to realize the power of meditation in their lives, meditation centers will become as prevalent as gyms. Our deepest wish is to further this "Quiet Revolution" by showing our film in schools, offices, hospitals, prisons, and nursing homes.
We believe that in this way we can change the world, one breath at a time.
YOUR CONTRIBUTION WILL ALLOW US TO COMPLETE PRODUCTION AND HELP US SHARE THE HEALING OF MEDITATION.
THE OUTREACH PLAN
In addition to completing the first volume of ten portraits, we also want to be sure that schools, hospitals and underserved populations such as at-risk youth and veterans have access to ON MEDITATION.
Therefore, for every advance copy of ON MEDITATION backed here we will donate a copy to a school or institution serving underserved populations.
When you back an advance copy of ON MEDITATION you are actually backing two copies: one for yourself and one for someone who might not otherwise have access to this material.
For those of you who are able-- consider joining us in further developing this outreach plan and become an Executive Producer (see rewards.)
At the heart of ON MEDITATION are people’s personal stories.
Handpicking just the right people has been and will continue to be paramount for this project.
In addition to those we've already filmed we are currently in touch with other fascinating people who meditate and have shown interest in appearing in our film-- both great masters and surprising public figures. With your support, we can film their portraits and keep moving forward in this ever-evolving series.

WHO WE ARE
ON MEDITATION is a production of Snapdragon Films. Helming the series is the award winning director/executive producer team of Rebecca Dreyfus and Susannah Ludwig, joined by renowned yoga teacher and author Elena Brower, who is for the first time lending her talents as an executive producer.
EVERY SINGLE BACKER WILL BE THANKED ON THE GRATITUDE PAGE OF OUR OFFICIAL WEBSITE.
WHERE YOUR MONEY WILL GO
Kickstarter funds will be used to complete post-production on our first five portraits and then create five more segments for a total of ten. We will consider this our first “volume” of films in a multi-volume series. The costs involved in reaching this goal include editorial and finishing costs for our initial segments as well as the expenses for pre-production, shooting, and editorial of the additional segments.
In addition, we will use our kickstarter funds to develop an outreach plan as described above.
With your generous support, once we are funded we believe we can complete the first volume of ON MEDITATION and make meaningful headway on our outreach plan in approximately one year.
That’s our short-term objective. Our dream is a world in which things are shifting. ON MEDITATION is helping make the practice more commonplace. Going inward and connecting with ourselves and each other is being valued in our culture. ON MEDITATION is being shown on network television and theatrically and being viewed in hundreds of thousands of schools, hospitals, veterans centers and residences for senior citizens. There are multiple volumes of ON MEDITATION featuring diverse and inspiring people, from every day people healing their own lives to Zen Masters and Gurus from across the globe. Onmeditation.com is a powerful resource where people can explore a catalogue of portraits and find inspiration for starting their own practices.
With your support, we can get this exciting film series underway, which will put us on the road to our dream. Every donation is deeply appreciated.
Thank you so much for considering a pledge of support to help make ON MEDITATION a reality, and please spread the word!

Risks and challenges
Documentary film by its very nature is a challenge. If you come across any documentary filmmaker who has completed a film they will have a tale to tell about how it happened. More or less filmmaking is about overcoming a series of obstacles. And, we love it.
We’ve been there before and know what it takes (check out our bios.) We don’t commit to projects lightly but once we do we’re pretty determined. So, regardless of what curve balls we are thrown we’ll see it through. We feel particularly confident saying that about ON MEDITATION because it’s so enjoyable to make.
In fact, we’re so honored and grateful to be making this work and open heartedly welcome the challenges it will bring.
Much, much gratitude to you for taking the time to read this and for any support you might offer us on the path to completion of volume one of ON MEDITATION.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
