Originally published on Line Webtoon (where you can read the comic online for free!), The Sword Interval is a modern fantasy comic, featuring action, adventure, and mystery-solving. It is created by Ben Fleuter, also the creator of Derelict.
With this Kickstarter the hope is to collect and print volume 1, which consists of over 170 pages (the original 45 Webtoon episodes) in a glorious 6.25” x 10.25” paperback. This book will also feature guest art by Natasha Petrovic, Enrique Bolatre, Cat Caro, Alexis Leriger de la Plante, Hannako Lambert and Michael Sexton.
Book 1 shows us the origins of Fall Barros - an inexperienced monster hunter on a cross-country quest for vengeance.
Fall is on a roadtrip across the United States. On her journey she discovers a warlock's lair.
Gets in car chases with evil spirits.
Stops a witch from holding up an office building.
And even fights a dragon.
The Sword Interval is made of shorter story-arcs about evil spirits and supernatural crimes. These stories are tied together by a bigger mystery - just why did the Hierophant kill Fall’s parents, but spare her?
Additionally, a small portion of any excess funding will go to my guest artists.
(This cost breakdown is an estimation, and covers 1000 copies of the book)
Risks and challenges
This is my second comic kickstarter. I feel like I have learned a lot from my previous experience, and can streamline the printing and fulfillment process. More importantly, the artwork for this comic already exists - it simply needs to be rearranged into a more print-friendly layout.
There is always room for unexpected snafus and delays, of course. Especially with stretch goals, for while they enhance the product, they create more work and more room for delays.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
