Our first miniature Medusa designed by Gautier Giroud was a great success receiving high praise from everyone that has seen it. This was the first in our line of Dangerous Ladies miniatures with this Kickstarter designed to build on the line as we seek funding for our next miniature "Musketeer".
Each of our miniatures starts with a simple design by the artist which is then further enhanced by the design team and sculptor to bring out the best possible 3D version that we can.
While we have used both traditional sculpting and 3d digital sculpting in the past for this kickstarter where we will be producing both 35mm and 75mm scale miniatures of the same design, a digital sculpt is more beneficial. It also allows us to make simple changes if needed as some 75mm designs are not suitable for a 35mm scale. Once the sculpt has been completed it is then sent through to the 3d printer who has over 7 years of printing 3d miniatures in high resolution for us to get the best possible print available and finally the print is sent to our resin caster who again has years of experience working with some of the best sculpts in the world. insert pics of processes showing the steps. Have confidence knowing that the 3d renders that you see here will be a true representation of the final end product.
The introduction pledge will provide you with one 75mm unpainted and unassembled resin miniature packed in an elegant magnetically closed box. You can choose any miniature from our unlocked funded miniatures.
You will also receive a collectible card signed by the artist along with a certificate of authenticity.
Depending on your pledge you may also be eligible to receive unlocked stretch goals. If this project is successfully funded, other designs will also become available allowing you to build on your collection.
Based on a gorgeous piece of art by Sandra Chang Adair our first miniature is the Musketeer sculpted by the extremely talented Andre de Souza.
Sandra Chang-Adair is a digital illustrator specializing in fantasy art that began in comic books. She has been published in Hustler, Heavy Metal, Fantagraphics Books/Eros Comix and Inside Kung-Fu. She has written tutorials for Digtial Art/Fantasy Art, Advanced Photoshop and Corel Painter Magazines. Her 48-page art book, Steampunk Rising: The Art of Sandra Chang-Adair, published by SQP Publications is available now. She is currently working on her online comic, Gothic Geisha. A futuristic, sci-fi adventure about rebels fighting a dysotopian Authoritative Government.
Our initial goal of $8,000 will enable us to produce the Musketeer at 75mm scale. However with additional funding we are also hoping to produce additional models at both 75mm and 35mm scales.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL MINIATURES COME UNASSEMBLED AND UNPAINTED AND MAY CONTAIN SMALL PARTS. THEY ARE NOT SUITED FOR PEOPLE UNDER THE AGE OF 14.
The below add ons can be added on to your pledge at the indicated cost. By purchasing these add ons you provide us with more funding to reach our target and stretch goals.
We have distribution hubs in Australia, the UK and the USA in order to keep shipping costs and taxes to a minimum. Once the campaign is finished, and your pledge manager complete we will contact you and give you instructions on how to make the payment for the shipping costs. We anticipate the average shipping cost to be AU$16 however large individual orders will obviously increase the shipping cost.
Risks and challenges
The team at Eclipse miniatures have produced numerous custom personalised miniatures over the last 18 months but finally released our first commercially available miniature "Medusa" in April this year.
With any kind of manufacturing, the main risk to our project is meeting our timeframe.
Our first commercial production Medusa, took us 6 months from beginning to being received by our customers. The majority of this time was spent waiting in line for our turn to have the miniature casted in high quality resin.
With this project we have allowed ourselves twice that long (12 months) to get everything ready as we know delays occur.
If there are unforeseen delays with manufacturing, we have a back up for every part of the process ready to go to ensure you get your miniatures as quickly as possible while maintaining the high quality that we pride ourselves on here at Eclipse Miniatures.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
