Dear Kickstarter Pals!
Hello! Thank you for stopping by my new Kickstarter project. My name is Aaron Meshon. I am an illustrator living and working in Brooklyn, NY. I love my job illustrating for publications, toys, children's books and more! I also really love making maps and have had the honor for such clients as The Brooklyn Public Library, The New York Times, and even a Bruce Springsteen: NJ map for Rolling Stone Magazine. You can see more of my work at: www.aaronmeshon.com
For years I have dreamed of making a jumbo BROOKLYN map and poster to pay tribute to my home and all the awesome people, food, parks, architecture, pot holes, traffic, french bulldogs and love that I feel everyday here. I recently completed the map after hundreds of hours of drawing and coloring and it is ready to be printed!
Quality eco-friendly offset printing costs money and I was hoping that by offering the poster on Kickstarter in advance, it could pay for the start-up fees as well as make me able to pass on the savings to YOU at a discount before the poster is released.
I am making a limited run 24"x 36" poster of Brooklyn and I hope very much to have the honor of it hanging in your office, shop, nursery, kid's room or dorm room or home gym / billiards room.
The artwork for the Brooklyn illustrated map was drawn by hand with a real pencil and pen on real paper for over 100 hours over 5 years, and then scanned and colored via Mr. Computer.
Here are some details of the Brooklyn map. Maybe you can find your neighborhood or a place you like to visit :
The final illustrated map will be printed on a beautiful matte earth-friendly heavy stock paper here in Brooklyn. The print will be 24" x 36" inches and will arrive at your door tube rolled and protected with ample packing inside. I will hand sign the prints for this KICKSTARTER release and USA shipping is included in both "rewards". The prints will ship in February 2014 if the project is funded.
If you have any questions please send me a note, and thanks a million for taking a look at my project.

Risks and challenges
Every day in Brooklyn when we leave our cozy apartments we are taking risks: angry pigeons, falling ice, runaway strollers, luke warm espresso, and of course "poster printing logistics".
Kickstarter is a great way for me to help offset (no pun intended) my personal financial risks with printing a larger number of posters to start with then I would normally have the funds to do. This will pass on the security to me, and the savings to the backers of the project. The shipping materials and packaging are ready to go...but the poster printing is waiting on a completed, backed project.
