“This Incredible New Project Is Explaining LGBT Themes To Preschool Kids” - Huffpost

Lindsay Amer, GLAAD Rising Stars Grant Recipient, Googled “What does gay mean?” and found limited resources; a dictionary definition and guides for parents and teachers to help explain the topic to kids. BUT there were no resources specifically made for kids. Lindsay is changing that with QUEER KID STUFF.

What is QUEER KID STUFF?

QUEER KID STUFF imagines a kinder and more equal future through highly-accessible, educational entertainment for all ages. Hosted by a tie-wearing queer human, Lindsay Amer, and their non-binary best-stuffed friend, Teddy, it’s Mr. Rodgers’ Neighborhood meets Gender Studies 101!

Queer representation and content for children is scarce and QUEER KID STUFF aims to eliminate stigma by educating future generations through videos. QUEER KID STUFF allows young people to have access to a queer resource that is specifically made for them. Parents, teachers and LGBTQ+ adults can use the video as a tool to help them explain queerness to the kids in their lives; recommended for all ages (grown up too)!

WHY DOES QKS NEED THE FUNDING?

Teddy and I are making our last two seasons of QUEER KID STUFF and we need your help! We realize the value and potential of QUEER KIDS STUFF and want our final seasons to be the best they can be. With your help, our episodes will be higher quality; we can pay our crew, dedicate more time to each episode, and pay our awesome special guests. Running a webseries is time-consuming and expensive, we want to keep making great content for teachers, kids, and parents but we can’t do it without you!

WHO DOES QKS PARTNER WITH?

Teddy and I have collaborated with a handful of LGBTQ+ influencers and organizations. Here are a few highlights <3

Who is part of Queer Kid Stuff Team?

Lindsay Amer - Creator, Writer, Editor, and Host

Lindsay Amer is a queer activist, artist, and storyteller. They obtained their BS from Northwestern University in theater and gender studies and their MA from Queen Mary University of London for theatre and performance studies. They were named a Rising Star by GLAAD, are a Webby Award Honoree, and have been recognized by HuffPost, Teen Vogue, Refinery29, and Kidscreen for their work. They also serve as co-founder and artistic associate of Bluelaces Theater Company, making multi-sensory theatrical experiences for people with autism and other developmental differences in New York. When they’re not taking down the patriarchy, they’re probably roaming around Brooklyn with their uke, their incredible partner, and their new puppy! Follow their shenanigans on twitter and instagram @lindzamer

Hannah Rimm - Director

Hannah Rimm is a writer, photographer, and filmmaker in NYC. Her work has appeared across the internet, in publications such as Bustle, Autostraddle, and Allure. When she isn’t directing Queer Kid Stuff she can be found hanging on a trapeze, talking loudly about feminism, and hunting for the perfect fried chicken sandwich. Also, she is very gay.

Meghan McCarter - Make Up Artist/Stylist

Meghan is an advocate for inclusive education through the dissolution of barriers-to-entry at all levels. This begins with community-based action that equips educators, parents, and students with the tools they need when they need them, without precondition. Mostly she does that by making Lindsay look really handsome on a semi-monthly basis but, when she's not doling out fleek brows, she also tutors primary and secondary school students and runs a weekly queer-oriented drink & draw in Bushwick.

Emmie Finkle - Production Designer

Emmie Finckel is a New York based scenic and properties designer specializing in new work and immersive/sensory design. Recent design credits include Riot Antigone, SeagullMachine (La MaMa), The Pillowman (Wesleyan University), Folk Wandering (Props – ART/NY), Athena (JACK), Out There (Bluelaces Theater Co.), East O’, West O’, Telegraph Bois (ANTFEST – Ars Nova), and SHE: A Choreoplay, And It Felt Like A Kiss... (HERE Arts). Assistant/associate design credits include numerous productions with David Korins (Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen), Woodshed Collective (KPOP Ars Nova & ART/NY), Empire Travel Agency, and The Assembly (I Will Look Forward…, That Poor Dream). Emmie currently teaches design and stagecraft at the Fieldston School, holds a BA in Theater and Sociology with High Honors from Wesleyan University, and is a proud member of the Woodshed Collective. See more of their work at www.efinckel.com.

Montana Lampert Hoover - Teddy, Voice, and Puppeteer

Montana Lampert Hoover is a New York based actor, singer, puppeteer and queer lady. Recent acting credits include: Old Names for Wildflowers (The Tank), Double Falsehood (Letter of Marque), Revelations (NYWinterFest), SHE: A Choreoplay (HERE Arts), HVMLET (SheNYC), Hand To God (Kitchen Theatre Company), Out There! (Bluelaces Theater Company), and Battle of Central Park (The Tank). She is very proud to be lending her hands and her voice (while hiding behind a chair) to create the voice and movement of Teddy on Queer Kid Stuff! Also a proud Sarah Lawrence College graduate and . Kym Lukas - Sound Engineer

Kym Lukacs is a young NYC based sound mixer, who prefers living in Jersey. They have been lucky enough to work on interviews for the Guggenheim Museum, 2016 Democratic National Convention and even Jimmy Buffet's latest CD Buried Treasure. Narrative films are still their true love, especially projects focused on the LGBTQ community. Their latest projects include a fantasy short about a women who grows a beard in a Hasidic Jewish community, a webseries about 20- somethings with D-list superpowers, and a documentary focused on trans people navigating life in 'Trump's America'. Kym is on Facebook, Instagram and (sometimes) Twitter as @LukacsSound.

Amanda D’Archangelis - Composer

Carly Silverman - Title Animations

KD Diamond - Logo and Graphics

Risks and challenges

Lindsay writes, directs, hosts AND edits all of Queer Kids Stuff. It is their passion and if this campaign does not succeed they will have to go on a hiatus and they might not be able to make the last two seasons.
