The Black Iron is a dark horror based fantasy RPG set after a war between elves and humans. Dark magick created by the elves was used to summon a ball of Black Iron to fall from the sky and destroy the human armies, but what it did was infect the land and mutate all those touched by the infection. The elves fled to another reality and the humans slowly died, those that could escape fled underground to the abandoned cities of the dwarfs.
The players are characters trying to survive in this new world, above ground the infection slowly spreads, engulfing the land and mutating everything it touches, the last city of the humans is protected by the mages who fight to hold back the corruption using magic, but even this is waning.
Below ground the humans survive in the abandoned cities and mines of the dwarfs, dealing with the horrors that exist there and the politics that comes with power struggles. The players can decide if they come from the cities below or the last city above, with a number of profession types that reflect the world in unique and interesting ways.
The players can choose to take on the role of a number of characters above ground.
Mages - The mages guild train Pyromancers to use the flame from their veins, the study of pyromancy is dangerous as those that wield it become flame themselves. Necromancy is the study of life and death and the necromancers of the Black Fort have experimented and created golems and horrors in their attempts to cure the infections.
Relic Knights - The battlefields are filled with the corpses of Paladins that fought the elves and Relic Knights are those that scavenge the armour of the dead in the hope to keep the noble Paladin order alive.
Tribals - The mountains of the north are the home to tribes, some of which are infected, others that feed off the flesh of humans and many that are considered uncivilized and barbarian.
Those that choose to come from the cities beneath can pick from the following.
Scavengers - Those that seek out wealth and artifacts from the ruins of the past. Traveling the mines and forgotten places of the dwarfs.
Vagrant - The cast out, those without a place within the society beneath. Vagrant camps can be found throughout the down below. They can act as guides or guards, or even bandits and killers.
Hunters - They seek the horrors both above and below, hunters of demons and criminals, purging the world of all its evils.
Some players may choose to exist both above and below and this is also possible, as all the professions available can travel between both. The cities have their thieves guilds and their warrior orders which characters can become part of.
As the infection spreads corrupt new lords have arisen from the rot, these lords control the mutated, make armies of the horrors and seek to control the lands. They send out their minions to raid and kill, spread the disease and mutate others, to save the world the lords will need to die so the corruption can be pushed back.
The game is powered by a d6 dice pool system which is both fast and intuitive. The player's attributes determine the number of dice rolled and their skill gives the number needed to equal or better with the difficulty deciding the number of successes needed.
Example - Sarah's Scavenger has reached a fissure in the tunnel and will need to jump across if she wishes to continue. Sarah's Agility is 4 which means she rolls 4d6, her Athletics is a 5 which means she needs to roll a 5 or 6 to succeed. The GM says the difficulty is 2 so Sarah needs 2 successes to reach the other side. Sarah rolls a 6, 1, 1 and 5 she succeeds and jumps the fissure.
The book will be a 8x11 300 page tome with everything you need to play, no separate players or GM books. It will be in full colour on high-quality paper.

£3500 - Sisters of the Stone - Unlocked
We will add the Sisters of the Stone, a holy order of Nuns trained in combat and assassination, as a profession. They train from childhood to carry out the orders of the church and aid in the rooting out of heresy below ground.
£4000 - Dael Segrach - Exclusive - Unlocked
The elves fled the world as the black iron fell, splitting reality and abandoning this world for another. What is not known is that they do send Rangers back to report on the world they left behind, and these Rangers are the notorious Dael Segrach.
In this exclusive stretch goal, the players can choose to play as part of the elite rangers, patrolling the world of corruption covertly. Gathering any important artifacts or texts left behind by the elven exodus. The Rangers also seek pieces of the black iron to forge their sigil blades.
The elves are hated by the humans and hunted by the lords of sunder and vein, your mission will not be easy, so will you take on the challenge and become part of the Dael Segrach, the famed elven rangers?

The Malice are the corrupted agents of the Remnants and will become a playable class in the book.
£5,500 - The Shackles - Exclusive - Unlocked
The islands of the west coast are called the Shackles, once an elven prison camp where horrible experiments were conducted it is now abandoned except for the prisoners and twisted monsters the elves created. The book allows the players to travel to the Shackles and even have the Shackles as a background. The book also comes with the Pirate class.

A list of lost and Mythic artifacts will be added to the core book, this list will include the backstory, abilities and where in the world the artifacts may be found.
