About this project
Thanks for checking out my Kickstarter campaign! I’m here because I have a new album in the works. It’s called Depression Era Thinking and it’s almost completed.
Here’s the back story…
A few years ago I was in great shape: I was working on music for film and television, I was producing tracks for other artists and I was working on several of my own projects. Then, in 2012, my mom passed away from pancreatic cancer. Her death came out of nowhere; She told me that she sick and seven days later she was gone. It sent me into a tailspin that only got worse when my relationship ended and then my music studio shut down. I lost focus and interest in making music and art.
I thought of that period as unproductive but, in fact, I was writing the whole time. It never occurred to me that what I was writing would ever be released; it was way too personal, but then I looked back and realized I had written more than an album’s worth of songs about one of the hardest times in my life. I recorded a few of the tracks and an album started to emerge.
The resulting work feels more personal and honest than anything I’ve ever created and it’s helped me crawl out from under the weight of my grief. Many people have experienced this kind of profound loss. I realized I needed to release this album not just for me, but for them.
The project is almost done but it needs a final push. I still need to record more tracks, mix, master, and manufacture the album. I can see the finish line, but I need your help to get across it.
I really appreciate your ears and your support. In gratitude I’m offering some really great rewards (see below). If I reach my goal of $10,000, I’ll have a lot of hand-made goods to create. I look forward to it. It’s a privilege to make music for a living. It’s an even greater privilege to contribute to other people’s lives through my music. That’s the real goal.
Oh, yeah, let’s talk about rewards! I’m pretty psyched about the incentives I’m offering. Hopefully you will be as well. Here are some of the highlights:
Pete Miser Thumbdrive loaded with my last three albums and some unreleased songs as well. I plan to fill this thing up so be prepared for the motherload!
“Pete Miser is my homie” t-shirt to prove your bonafides. I designed it so don’t say anything if you don’t like it. I’m a sensitive artist.
Handmade thank you postcard that will look something like this. I’ve already warmed up my brush pens.
Blank Moleskine notebook with the lyrics to one of my songs handwritten in the first two pages. I’ve already gotten a hand massage to ward off the writer’s cramp.
Of course there’s much more. Take a look and see if there is something to your liking. If you want combinations that you don’t see here, by all means, pledge at more than one level. And, again, thanks!
Risks and challenges
Kickstarter requires me to describe the risks and challenges that come along with this project. Honestly, it’s hard to think of any besides writer’s cramp if the campaign is successful (I might have a lot of handwritten thank you postcards to make!) The truth is, I’ve done this before. This will be my 5th solo album. I know what I’m doing. I’m familiar with the process. I’m not an untested kid. You can rest assured that I’ll come through with pro work.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
