Help Investigate Glyphosate Spraying in Florida (Canceled)
Back the production of a three part video series examining the effects herbicide spraying has on our environment and health.
How is glyphosate herbicide spray affecting our environment and health?
For Truth Media's next investigative report(s) will examine our culture's use of glyphosate herbicide sprays. Chemicals such as glyphosate are used extensively in managing both aquatic and terrestrial plants in agricultural, residential and wilderness settings. In all cases, these chemicals find their way back into our waterways and possibly into our food and drinking water supplies.
In Florida, concern over glyphosate spraying practices has reached a fever pitch. Many citizens feel the state's enormous aquatic spraying program has contributed to toxic algal blooms such as blue-green algae and red tide.
On January 25th 2019, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) announced a three week moratorium on their aquatic herbicide treatments. During this pause, officials will seek public input and address concerns regarding the state's invasive plant management program.
For Truth Media will be producing an in-depth series on the effects of herbicides on our environment and health. We are working with lead scientists, doctors, fisherman and communities that have been documenting glyphosate spraying for many years. It is time to give these people a voice and make meaningful changes.
We are currently planning a three part series on glyphosate:
Part 1: What, Where and Why
- What is glyphosate and why are we paying contractors to spray it all over our inland waterways?
- How might herbicide use be contributing to our water quality problems?
- What are the other management solutions for invasive plant species?
Part 2: In Our Backyards
- What is the role of residential glyphosate (Round-up) use in our water quality?
- Might spraying weeds in our yards contribute to harmful algal blooms?
- How do we break our addiction to commercial weed killer?
Part 3: The Glyphosate Effect
- In the final episode, we will seek insight into animal and human health issues.
- How is Glyphosate spraying affecting fish and birds?
- Can these chemicals be traced into our food supply?
- Where do we go from here?
By backing this kickstarter campaign, you will be helping us produce these specific segments as well as start to build overhead for our young startup's day-to-day operations.
About For Truth Media
The founding members of For Truth Media met during the South Florida red tide and cyanobacteria emergencies of 2018. We networked on- and off-line with thousands of concerned community members and discussed the public need for more accurate and in-depth water quality information.
We acknowledge that Florida is at the front line of many environmental issues and is now the third most populated state in the country. Rapid growth and depletion of natural resources are critical issues facing all of our communities. A much greater percentage of the public needs to be educated on these crucial environmental challenges. Education and advocacy has never been more important to our health and prosperity.
Six of us came to realize we have the skills and motivation to fill these communication needs. We are a unique team driven by a common goal—ensuring that our children can enjoy the same natural environments, waterways and resources that we have loved and flourished in.
Please join us. Help us communicate to the public about serious environmental issues and their solutions.

Risks and challenges
The goal of this campaign is to raise revenue to produce this series of reports and help sustain our day-to-day startup operations. We have already produced several pieces of this nature and have the expertise and relationships to tell a meaningful story that can make a big impact. If we meet our fundraising goal our risks should be low.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
